This part just bugs the crap out of me:

"Childress said the Vikings did not learn about his hip injury until the eve of organized team activities in mid-May. Rice did not even mention his hip issue to head trainer Eric Sugarman, who visited him in Miami in March about another medical issue..."

I'd be curious to know if there is some team or league rule in place that would allow the Vikings to penalize him on his 2010 salary for not disclosing the injury sooner.

Stick him on the IR. I don't want to see this clown on the field in 2010. If the team is in the tank when he's healthy enought to come back, there won't be any point in rushing his return. And if they're actually still in the playoff hunt when he's ready, that'll mean having to cut or bench some other player who has been helping them survive his absence. Either way, it would seem a bad idea bringing him in before 2011.

With any luck, there will be a lockout then, and Sidney can enjoy two years of vacation time.

It's unbelievable that he didn't confer with the team about his injury. He's a selfish prick who obviously doesn't care about his team. I agree with Seriously, put him on the IR and end his season now. Hopefully, teams realize that BF made his season last year, and he doesn't get big contract in the future.

Well I had to move Rice out of my Fantasy league.. Maybe I can pick him up in weeks 8 if healthy... That would be a steal if he can come back healthy...
GO VIKES!! NO must pay after all their cheap shots on us... Offensive line needs to pick it up or it may be a long season for us...
GO VIKES!!!!

Too bad he didn't get it done in the off season like Favre did so he could be ready for the Saints game. He should be fined for not disclosing this injury. If the Vikes knew and didn't disclose it they would receive a hefty fine. It shows a lack of concern to his teamates who are depending on him. This was a selfish move.

Pretty weak. Yeah, let's wait until the season starts to really address the issue and schedule a surgery. Nice, Rice. And Chili sounds like an idiot, which...well...you know...isn't hard to imagine

There it is, it was Sydney's decision.

I'd like to know how he looks his teammates in the eye.

I agree, he should be docked pay for every game he misses because of this.
Of course you can't talk to him personally, one would have to go through Drew Rosenhose.
How much of this was Drew's idea too? He likes to pull the strings on his investments.

More Chilly brilliance. Chilly has already dismissed moving Webb to reciever . So we can wave goodbye to him when Chilly tries to put him on
practice squad.I must have been seeing things
when in these last two games Webb looked like
he is hard to tackle, and that he was one of the fastest players on the field. Evidently Chillt does not see it.
As for everyone jumping on Adrian for his blocking, why is no one complaining about the
center and guard who made no attemt to block the two linebackers who blitzed between center and guard. On the play Herrera never put a hand on anyone, he just turned around and watched Favre get hit.

I can understand whining about what has happened, but whining about what Klink may do next is getting a little ahead of yourself.
If you think they are going to let Webb hang out there for the picking, I've got to ask what you've been drinking.

If Herrera let the rush through, AD STILL needs to block, don't you think?

The television report said that Rice had seen 3 specialists over the off-season. Two had reccommended surgery; one said he could try to rehab it. Knowing it would take at least 8 weeks after surgery, the prudent thing to do would have been to have had the surgery no later than the end of April. I'm quite certain had the Vikings known of the injury they would have wanted it done a long time ago. I can't believe Rice is so stupid to wait until late August.

Totally agree. The management of this team sucks! Klink has made one horrible mistake after another ever since he took over 12 MEN!...NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!...AFTER A TIME OUT!...IN FIELD GOAL RANGE!!!!!. I don't know about him but I've been hearing about this hip problem for a pretty long time. Seems to me if I'm the coach I would have done something about it. I know you can't make a person have surgery but you have to have a contingency plan in place. Looks to me like the inmates are running the asylum.

With Rice out of the picture for now and Harvin questionable, wouldn't it be great to see Berrian and mr. prima dona peterson man up and say they are committed to picking up the slack? Oh wait a minute, we only talk about putting forth an effort when our complaints get addressed! Forget the contract, that's only a meaningless piece of paper.

He cost himself a lot of money in incentives and his team possibly a couple of wins with his "I don't want to have surgery" attitude. Even the guy who said he wasn't playing had surgery. You had 6 months to do it, now you wait until two weeks til the regular season? Very dumb...

funnt thing about Rice...Favre made this guy a star last year....he can't follow up this year cuz of his injury..if he comes back next year he won't have QB that will be able to get him the ball so he blew it big time, what a dum*ss....
