Visanthe Shiancoe's silence on reduced role in Vikings' offense speaks volumes

Full story: TwinCities.com

Visanthe Shiancoe is the wrong person to ask. What was that? The Vikings' walking sound byte, ready to attack any camera or microphone in his vicinity, has nothing to say? "I'm the wrong person to ask," he said five times in one interview Friday regarding his role in the offense.

The Oline has been so pathetic that the tight ends are usually called on to block.

Need new Oline coach and blocking scheme. It's too late this year but this KAO needs to be trashed.

Shank--as #4 calls him--seems a little miffed. He needs Chilly and Brett to come back next year to feel better. Bring back the A team for another all in year for 2011.

The WCO has failed..........when an offensive scheme like the WCO is not executed properly it will make the whole offense look pathetic. Recievers have to run precise routes and most IMPORTANTLY catch the ball.........they haven't all year. Consistent missed blocks by the RB's all year on routine blitz's have lead to turnovers and missed 3rd down conversions. Playing behind the whole game has helped opposing teams neutralize our Defensive rush by running more nad utilizing the short pass game. In effect this whole team has tanked..........offensive line needs upgraded BUT IT IS CURRENTLY RANKED 9TH IN RUN BLOCKING, and yes I agree it may be time to abandon the ZBS.

I don't think the Vikes are gonna completely overhaul this line though..........Loadholt will stay, Mckinnie may be back as well, Hutch too. I think they need to grab a RG and Center first and foremost. 3 if not 4 of these guys on the O-line may be back next year..........just sayin' it is a possibility, we'll see. QB, DB, and definitely at LEAST one QUALITY O-lineman is needed immediately in the off-season.

Greenway has been a bright spot however, he has clearly shown to the league he is a premier linebacker. Ziggy is gonna have to reach a bit deep in his pockets after this season when signing him again. CANNOT LET HIM GET AWAY!!!!

Center and Right Guard seem to be the spots of interest. Isn't Ryan Cook in his last year of contract?

YeS HE SIGNED A 1 YEAR DEAL prior to this season. You know he was a part of that '06 draft, it took Greenway till this season to show progress Vikes may want to keep Cook around as well.

You know McKinnie and 'Holt don't fit the profile for the ZBS..........lineman for this scheme need to be a bit nimble and fleet of foot. The argument that this O line completely sux is specious. It is suspect in the pass blocking area but our backs have no idea of how to even pick up a routine slot defender when he blitz's!!!!

The line has sucked for some time.

Nobody's job is safe.

I think there was a LOT of dogging it while Klink was around. And now they gotta get serious.

Basically the same line that got us to the champ. game..........you don't get that far in the NFL with a real bad line. Like I said..........when the recievers and backs don't hold up their end of the bargain the O line is gonna look bad no matter who the personnel is..........it does need upgraded at spots though.

AGAIN I AM NOT SAYING THIS LINE IS GREAT, LATELY IT HAS BEEN SUB-PAR but it is not the offensive line that is solely to blame......this is a meltdown that began off the field before the season BEGAN................

Maybe if Shiancoe would stop jumping off sides or catch a catchable ball, he would be considered reliable option on offense! Get your act together and get your head in the game!~ I for one don't feel a bit sorry for Shiancoe. He has killed many drives with his mental lapse!

He could help out a rookie QB on Monday but he would rather cry me a river! Real class act!! Dope!

come Monday...every player in every position, needs to forget the "why not me" crap...suck it up and carry out what ever assignment is given them to help this team and Joe get it done...as for the WCO...this horse should be put out to pasture...it is not the holy grail that Bill Walsh had. Erie is right, while the O line is not a complete waste of space; it does need tweaking in the off season. for now...i can't wait to see the Vikes play with snow on their jerseys, come Monday night...all hands on deck and help make this a great debut for Webb...GO VIKES!!!

Shiancoe can take a hit,but can Berrian? Everytime the ball sails toward him and the DB is doing the same.He falls down before contact with the ball or the defender. This team has to run sweeps and draws and screens to work!It has some players but schemes that are too predictable and slow to develope. They need to attack with some urgency and power and stop trying to "out think" the defenders.Qb is a difficult position, but Joe Kapp couldn't throw a spiral unless a tornado was on the field.I hope they will "storm" back with Webb and Frazier and of course Peterson!

For a running attack to be successful, you need to throw the ball down field.

The 2 tackles are oxes and Hutch is getting a little long in the tooth. With 2 top caliber running backs, the Vikings should be a trap blocking more. Start training in 3 new O-line replacements now. Webb's gonna need the help.

True. They never recovered from the Championship game.

This year, Petersen has gotten most of his yards by himself.

Something is wrong.

Shiancote will get his chance this week against a cover two defense, they will need him in the seams and on slants to keep the strong safety out of the box...and Webb who threw to him against the Giants in one of his 5 attempts is aware of that apparently.
