I'm sure Lombardi knows what he is talking about, but I think injuries had a little to do with it too. If Griffin does not go down early in the season I think the defense would have ended up being pretty solid. That said they could definatley upgrade at the front and back end of the D.

Some positions can be filled thru free agency, but this draft is going to be really important to fill critical need areas and to add depth.

Any chance they can draft a STADIUM in the 5th round? a long snapper in the 1st?

I assume by "more needs than they think" that we really mean "this is a bad team that could use upgrades at every position except RB, linebacker, and possibly punter".

This team has holes all over the field, and anybody who doesn't think so is drinking the kool aid. QB, OL, Secondary, WR (you now Rice won't be back), you name it. How about RB? It's not like Toby did anything impressive. The D Line is aging and very streaky. Or LB? Yeah, we got Greenway, but who else is going to be there? It's not like Greenway is a Ray Lewis type that is a difference maker anyway. The Vikes are in line for a couple 13, 14 down seasons and it's not too difficult to see it.

also, laughing bears fan: it's not like your team is any good either. The bears will fall down into another typical 6-10 season next year. Mark it.

Stadium is a definite need, but their 40 time always push them out of the draft. The Bears drafting a QB this year? It's a hugh need area.

QB, the OL and the secondary are the biggest needs the Vikings have. Yes, Rice needs to be re-signed, but I wouldn't assume that he's leaving just because Favre isn't here.

Personnally, I'd love the see the Vikings trade McKinnie for a second or third round pick. If they pick up an OT in round one, a QB in round two, and go after a safety in FA, when ever that starts. Free agency is the big question mark, though; the rest of the team's needs should be address there.

Let Avantard do the Vikings draft this year. Then the QB position of the roster will look like the Harlem Globetrotters

Yes, QB, OL and secondary are the needs, with DL right up there.
A second or third for McKinnie is probabably not happening considering his play last year, but any draft pick I would be happy with, just to be rid of him.

Throw in TJoke for a package deal and you would get a trade for 7th rounder in the 2014 draft

TJOKE is a free agent-plus CHILLY tried putting his man crush on the trading block this past off-season and no-one wanted TJUNK AKA JUMP PASS JACKSON.

WE NEED A QB FIRST AND FORMOST!!!! THEN DRAFT O-LINE! TRADE AWAY AGING STEVE HUTCHINSON!

I think drafting a QB in round one would be a mistake, all have question marks either with talent level or character issues. We would be better to draft the best player available at the OL, DL or secondary positions, all areas of need and we would get a starting caliber player. Hutch will be fine. He was hurt all of last year, and still played solid while in there. You want to trade someone, get rid of McKinnie, then upgrade the LT and the center position on the OL first.

Trade with either Philly for Kolb, sending them our #12 pick for Kolb and their 3rd pick, or trade with Denver for B. Quinn, either trade would give us a QB with some NFL experience, but either QB is still young enough to learn a new system If Rice leaves, Move J Webb Back to WR, thats where he was drafted in the first place. We can then pick up Def. or OFf lineman in the later Rds. Or thru trades, drafting a QB puts us back to square one, I would rather see someone who already has NFL experience, plus we have Ramsey, and Romar for backups.

The Vikes have a big problem at Center. Sullivan misses way to many blocks against line backers and gets whipped more times than not againt nose tackles. I was hoping that Pouncey would fall to us last year, but the Steelers snagged him just ahead of us. His brother comes out this year, I hope we get him. How many times last year did we get stopped on 4th and 1 with Adrian Freakin Peterson! Please Les, pick the Center.

Could we please get another article, about whether or not the Super Bowl window has closed? Or about how Zigi is going all in? It made for great comedy last year.

I do belive that we have a good QB that just needs some teaching. What they should do is get a QB like McNab to teach the young man. The old man they had was good but he was more worried about his stats then he was about the team. We do need to sign Rice, work on our defence backs that is where we are hurting. Our defence line is getting up there in age. But we really need to keep AP.
