It might dictate the future of Dennis Allen, but I don't think after this year will be long enough for either. I feel that Allen needs at least 3 years to prove his worth and McKenzie needs 5 or 6. It takes at least 3 years for a coach to really have a fair chance at rebuilding & I think it may take even longer for us given the state we are in but still, 3 years is long enough to prove if we're headed in the right direction or not. A GM needs to go through at least two head coaches given that he gives them a reasonable amount of time to do something unless one just proves to be completely worthless (like Joe Bugle or maybe Bill Callahan).

2013 should not dictate reggie mckenzie's future. and he should get at least 5 or six years to build this team together for the future!
but when he gets fired, i hope we get a gm that has a RAIDER heart and believes in the RAIDERS so we get back to being silver and black!'commitment to excellence" and "just win baby"!

Jackson was an offensive coach. Allen is a defensive coach. Greg Knapp brought his useless offense back from the Lane Kiffin days & was fired after it once again proved to be useless. Jackson was on the right track, but wasn't given a fair chance because McKenzie wanted to bring in his own head coach. What was really stupid was that there hasn't been any real continuity since the Jon Gruden era. The closest we had was when Tom Cable pretty much had the head coaching job for 3 years and in his third year got us from double digit losing seasons to 8-8 and I thought it was stupid that he was still fired after getting us out of the cellar. My question is "Are YOU really that DUMB?"

To Me Tom Cable's era was proof that a coach needs at least 3 years to prove he's taking the team in the right direction. 5-11 one year and 8-8 the next is a pretty big step in the right direction if you ask me. I think the trio of Cable (head coach), Jackson (offensive coordinator) & John Marshall (defensive coordinator) could've had us a solid contender by now.

Ditto. Unfortunately, Jackson wouldn't have stayed as OC--he had opportunities to be a HC somewhere else. I would have liked to see Jackson OR Cable stay as HC but.....

As far as Allen (and the other coaches).....I don't even know if 3 years will be enough time to install his "system". Reggie is doing what he has to do to rebuild this team. In just 2 short years (Looong years for Raiders fans), Reggie has got this organization to 50 mil in cap space (next season). That is outstanding. But in order to do that he has to let some good players walk (like Wheeler and Myers) because he can't afford them this season. Allen (and the other coaches)is in his 2nd year and has more "new" players to coach than he did in his 1st year. How many returning players do we have from last season? How many players are familiar with the "system" and the coaches? That's right, not many. Give them 3 years at least. The constant change in coaches, coordinators and QB's is not helping this team either.

The rebuilding started last year with some new rookies (Burris, Streater, Bergstrom, Nix, Bilukidi).
It continued this year with draft picks that will hopefully pay off (Hayden, Sio Moore, Tyler Wilson).
Next year, with another round of draft picks and plenty of cap space to grab a few key FA's, I can see this team making a serious run in the playoffs. I'll wait until then to judge the coaches.

Well, I'll say this...If 2013 will dictate anybody's future, it will be Dennis Allen's. If anything he has to show that he has the team heading in the right direction.

Ya, i agree with you there. I remember gearing up for "another typical raiders season" and being like "oh SHI#" we can be a competent footabll team! Look at Darren go! Who the hell is calling plays! This is awesome! Sure we would lay some eggs, and i've said i like Hue a lot, but he was certainly more effective as a playcaller as an OC instead of a HC.

you know i was thinking about that yesterday, that dennis allen is probably better suited as a (dc). and i was also thinking, you know?, this guy got an opportunity of a lifetime to be a head-coah of the nfl. shoot, most anybody in that business would love and dream of becoming a head-coach of the nfl. so, good for him, he deserves a shot. and of course, being fair, in reality for a (hc) is 3yrs. i know dennis allen hasn't really gotten a fair shot to coach a complete team because of mckenzie's doing, but you still gotta look at his coaching style. he may not be a kind of coach we all look for but players seem to respect him so far "respectively", but for them to call in sparano and strip dennis allen of play calling, kind of says little things about him. the bright side is that he now has one yr experience and going on two. see how how that goes? either way, if we do good because of olson and sparano? and dennis allen looks good! so where will dennis allen get his own credit as a (hc)? for inspiration?
