2010 preview: iowa
Iowa has perfected the art of skirting disaster. The Hawkeyes deservedly enter the 2010 campaign as a top-10 team after an 11-2 season and a BCS bowl victory, but the season could have unraveled at any number of times.

David Lee Rice was 13 or 14 years old in junior high school. The Central Chargers of Muscatine, Iowa, football team visited Washington, Iowa. They had scouted us. Dave could run the 100 yard dash in less than 10 seconds... for a kid not even in high school yet- that's fast!
Every Washington player on the field wore tennis shoes instead of cleats so they would be fast too. Washington kicked off to Central to start the game. Dave caught it and ran it back for a touchdown- they couldn't catch him all game.
Why he didn't become a famous college or pro player is a year or 2 later a drunk driver sped around a corner and the car rolled on top of Dave, crushing and killing him.
As for David Lee, teams are going to prepare for the Hawkeyes. If the defense is close to as good as last year, great. But last year Iowa had one of the weakest offenses in the nation. Vandenburg looks to be the most prolific passer in Big Ten history, if allowed, I hope Stanzi's Hawkeye career is like many of his games- great late.
ooorahrah! ooorahrah! Iowa! Iowa! Go Hawks!
476 passing, 224 rushing, first game
