Nice job by the Raiders especially the Defense. They mixed it up and did not go man-to-man most of the time. It seemed the Eagles offense prepared for a different Raider-Defense and they were off-balance. I hope the Raiders continue mixing it up on Defense after seeing the result of not being so predictable.

Gary Russell did a great job today. Where Lawton would often drop the pass out in the flat, Russell would catch and make a good gain. Russell's big catch to make a first-down and allow the Raiders to kill the clock reminded me of the many times the Chiefs ran that play with success under the Schottenheimer-era. That type of play will only help JaMarcus who doesn't always have open receivers or a running game to get that type of yardage on relatively "safe" play.

Lately, this sort of game has been the Eagles identity (them losing games to opponents that the shouldn't).

Remember last year the Eagles tied the Bengals, who at the time had one one win. Donovan threw INT's like free turkey giveaways and plus he fumbled!

Oh well I see nothing has changed!!

I also was impressed with Louis Murphy....he showed he is all about team first...He is a big reason Miller scored that TD...two blocks for him getting him to the end zone...kudos. Raiders played a decent game...still lots to work on...but Russell played with more confidence...just has to watch those INT's.....

depressing to know that Philadephia has reached the level of the Raiders. the NFL is really a disaster this year.

That's right Freddy. That is how you have to play Defense in the NFL today to be worth a damn. Surely the coaches will see it and use this game package more often. We have the capability to be successful blitzing and we were successful with it today. I was impressed with the zone coverage as well and I think I remember John Marshall saying at one time that is how he prefers to play his secondary. Playing zone coverage allows the DBs to see the field more and makes it easier for them to break on where the play is going rather than focusing on just one player.

That is why I thought Gary Russell should've made the team in the first place. He's a solid blocker and a good play making threat from the backfield. Plus he has the versatility to play fullback and tailback just like Zack Crockett did. When I saw him in preseason I said to myself "There is our next Zack Crockett."

I like Louis Murphy all around as a player and on the TD pass to Zach Miller he displayed every bit of it. Jamarcus Russell played better today but he still has a long ways to go. He needs to lighten up on his throws and give the receivers a better chance to catch them...There were too many times that the ball just shot through the hands of the intended receivers. I watched the Chicago-Atlanta game and they made big praise on Matt Ryan and compared him to Peyton Manning and to me the comments sounded a lot like what we had in Rich Gannon most notably the "staying after and coming in early to watch film and help make the game plan." Heck I remember Jon Gruden saying that he got so sick of Rich Gannon calling him early in the morning asking how much longer he'd be that he just gave him his own set of keys to the building (don't know if Matt Ryan has made it that far yet)...Anyways that is what we need Jamarcus Russell to do.

His two blocks were reminiscent of the movie "Remember the Titans" and Sunshine's blocks on the final play. Maybe Murphy's nickname should be "Sunshine".

It's funny how noone is saying that the Raiders played up to the Eagles level. Afterall, it was the Raiders blitzing and getting to the QB just like the Eagles typically do.

I saw Tom Jackson(former Bronco) talk how the Raiders Dismantled every fact of the Eagles game. That was nice to see, of cousre he even admitted he was making fum of the way the Raiders had played prior to Yesterday. Coach Reid also said the Raiders beat them in the field and were coached better. These are things we haven't heard in a long time. But if you watch the game, the bottom line is we looked prepared. Again something we haven't looked like in a long time. I also liked what Cable said after the game...He said he has stressed how hard and important winning is, but now the true test is what do you do with the win. He is challenging all his players to come in tomorrow morning and work at winning next week, not resting on our laurels. That's the most difficult thing to do in football ...manage your success.
Next week will be a true test. I am looking forward to seeing how they play. Cable also said he had told them you win games by playing for 60 minutes not 58. and then I heard Russell echo that sentiment. Which tells me the message is sinking in.

You Cowboy fans better hope the team that the team who played against the Carolina Panthers show up, and not the one who played against Kansas City Chiefs, because Atlanta Falcons play defense.

I read somewhere that OT Mario Henderson said that unlike previous weeks, they actually broke down the game film and studied it crystal clear and knew what to expect. This is what Rich Gannon did during his career with the Raiders before and after practices and that is why he was able to call audibles every play because he knew what to expect from every defensive formation he saw.

Cable made the whole team do that this passed week in preparation for Philadelphia and I saw a major difference.

Are you in listening mode today? Let's hope so because someone wants to bend your ear and they're hoping that you can spare the time and energy for them. Although your first instincts may tell you to give them plenty of advice, try to stop yourself volunteering it unless it's asked for. Even then, you may get the sense that you're really being asked to listen, not talk.
