I sure didn't see that coming. Except for a minor blip in Kansas City a month ago, the Packers were an efficient and precise scoring machine all season.

Just reading where if the Packers use the franchise tag on Finley,he and his agent will fight it so hes listed as a WR,so hes looking at 7-9M per ( depending on what the average of the top 5 WR is) instead of the 5M or so a TE gets and considering Finley led all TE in the NFL with 14 drops, that may come up ( drops) and if Finley is going to get 7-9M,screw it and let him go.If you can sign him for 5M maybe approaching 6M,go for it,but,if your looking at WR cash,we have some TE on the roster and can always draft one or sign a vet TE and with our WR and our qb,a talented TE will get his passes and his catches ( unless he drops them) so that should be interesting to watch and see how that turns out.Personally id love to trade him for a pick,but......

Couldn't agree more. He has not really done a whole lot to even put himself in the top 5 as far TE's go let alone a WR. The potential is there however. The question is do the Packers pay for that potential? I would be in favor of franchising him at TE $$$ but not at WR $$$$. Then he needs to prove he can consistently catch the ball and limit the dropped passes.

There is a reason Ted drafted DJ Williams from Arkansas in the April 11 draft,so the TE is there.Crabtree is a blocking TE but Taylor from NC ( 7th round pick i believe) isnt to bad and there is always the draft and TE can be picked in the late rounds, also FA TE vets can fill in holes.JF has a huge upside, but, he has an ego problem, lack of concentration (and it was his first full year after a nasty leg injury,so it takes a year to get back into 100% playing shape and confidence back) so i wonder how much that had to do with his drops ect?

but WR money for Finley? Just because he lined up wide a few times? No Way in Hell do you pay Finley 8-9M.As i said before if htey can sign him for around 5-6M ( average TE money) or alittle higher as i do beleive he is a better TE then most and causes matchup problems like very few TE can,i dont have a problem with it,but, again WR money? No,im sorry,if they can franchise him, with a team in mind to make a trade for a pick,,im for it,otherwise, let him walk as GB will lose a few FA and will recieve at least a compensation pick in the draft ( if not more then 1 pick) and TED hasnt done all that bad with the draft has he?

Another thing to ponder: Tori Gurley is 6'5" and 230 pounds. Possible hybrid WR/TE, kind of like Finley? Add him to the WR and TE mix and things change a little.

I'm in favor of keeping Finley at the right price, and I think he's going to find out that the FA market for him is going to go about the same way Prince Fielder's is. Teams will be interested, but only at the right price and probably not for a long-term deal. Finley could be one of the great ones, but he's not there yet.

I hope Finley does not get too much money but I do think he helps the offense with the match up issues he creates. He is still young so I would pay him something worthwhile. It is not that big of a risk or gamble IMO.
So if neither Finley nor Flynn gets the FA tag then who will? I guess no one then.

If you could use Gurley at TE,let Finley go,they can then keep Driver, but, that's not going to happen i don't think. The Packers signed both WR on their practice squad so that may be the end of DD in a Packers uniform and many are expecting Chad Clifton to retire. He has 1 more year so it would be cool if he stayed for his last year before he retires and give Marshall Newhouse 1 more year to learn the position ( although Newhouse did have some good games) and Newhouse will get better but 1 more year couldn't hurt, its just a matter of can you get 1 more season out of C.C. which is a question in itself.

I like the fact, they are looking into moving Woodson to safety, but, they needed a corner and Shields is extremely raw with tackling and coverage skills so they kept CW at the corner spot, but, Woodson may move to safety for next season, which would be great for him.Draft a corner or sign a vet who can do the job, move CW to safety and he wont have to take as much punishment and hits at the line and can use his experience and his athleticism at the safety position That would be a great move IMO
