This guy makes a good point about who we should cut ties with. However, I don't think Michael Huff will work out too well for another team like Fabian Washington did last year when we traded him to Baltimore for a late round pick. I'd put Javon Walker on the trading block since he cost too much to cut...Justin Fargas oughta be on the trade block too since we got McFadden and Bush for the long haul. If we do franchise Asomugha, re-sign Lechler, Baker, Grove, Alston, J Miller, and Brown (we already re-signed Johnson)then we should come out of the draft with at least 2 DL, 2 OL, 1 LB, and 1 WR or TE. I'm sure we could get a few more picks if we trade guys that are still under contract like Huff, & Fargas, but you never know.

It seems to me that every year, we the fans and the article writers know what the Raiders need to do to improve the team, but how much of it actually gets done? They seem to have loyalty to certain players like Ronald Curry, Sam Williams, and Terdell Sands that at one time were hit and miss, but now don't have the consistancy. Then there's guys that can still play that want out and won't play while they're with us but do well once they're gone. For a long time, people said that Fabian Washington and Tyler Brayton wouldn't start on any other NFL team yet alone make a final roster...WRONG!!! Washington was traded to Baltimore and Brayton voided the final year of his contract and joined the Carolina Panthers and both players started on two of the NFL's top defenses last season. I thought Brayton was good at playing the run. Stopping the run has been a big issue for us for years now, but what have we done to help it? Honestly, not much. We brought in DE Kalimba Edwards and he was decent and we signed William Joseph who was cut at the end of camp and then brought back after an injury. Tommy Kelly signed a big deal but he can't do it alone...there are 3 others on the front line with him that are just as responsible plus 7 more behind him. Derrick Burgess is not the all pro anymore that he was when first joined us and is a huge injury risk now. Warren Sapp never was a run stuffer even in Tampa. Terdell Sands has failed in that role and Gerrard Warren has been hit and miss. The last solid runstuffing DT we had was Ted Washington. Before him it was Sam Adams, preceded by Darrell Russell & Grady Jackson, preceded by Chester McGlockton & Russell Maryland/Nolan Harrison. Russell and Jackson had Rod Coleman to rotate in on passing downs. McGlockton was the last all around DT that we had who could stop the run and put pressure on the QB on passing downs. Kelly can be that guy, he just doesn't have the support arond him that he needs like McGlockton did.

We need to keep Nnamdi Asomugha. He is the best CB in the world!! He shuts down 1/2 the field. We rebuild a world championship team starting with him. You don't lose a pro bowl, and all-pro player like him and think you are gonna get better. Example: michael jordan left the bulls and they have not won a championship since. make since huh. Keep Nnamdi if you don't keep no one else!

First I agree it would be great to keep Nnamdi...but it may not be our choiice unless we franchise him. You can't blame him for testing the market...we have been a dysfunctional organization since Gruden left. But it is an unfair comparison to compare Jrdan to Nnamdi...Jordon won Championships with the Bulls...We haven't won squat with Nnamdi...that is not a slam on Nnamdi, just stating you are comparing two totally different scenarios. Nnamdi is the best shut down corner no doubt...but we can win without him...there are 20+ teams that had a better record than we did and they didn't have him. So Yes I would like to keep him, but the world doesn't end for the Raiders if we don't.

After reading this, I think that if we have to pass on BJ Raiji in round 1, then we should get his counter part Brace because from what I read, they were the best at stopping the run. Kelly and Warren are good a penetrating the line of scrimage and with one of those mosters from Boston College in on running downs with Kelly, Warren can rotate in on passing downs and that may improve our run D.
