Joe Pa won a lot of games and championships at PSU vs very tough competition. Bobby Bownden won a lot of games and championships with a program that was close to being discontinued until he arrived and built it into a national powerhouse. I respect both of them as coaches, even though I don't like their teams.

Both are past their primes, but when your university sanctifies them by naming a stadium or building on campus after your current head coach, you pretty much lost the authority to fire them. Just like with the pope at the vatican.

See how people can get along when they are reasonable. I have at least 30 really good friends who graduated from FSU and all do REALLY well> And NONE of us give each other garbage about games. In fact the only time any of us shoots his or her mouth off is when our own team is playing badly.
Would like your opinion---In no other ENTITY in America would a man be allowed to oversee the dismantling of a significant institution--FSU in football became a significant institution, AND even though he built it does that mean he gets to watch it come down because he wants more wins than another old guy?? It's CRAZY. If your dad had built up a string of cleaners in the Midwest and then became too pld to efficiently operate them would your family watch his bad decisions and/or incompetence bring them down?? What is going on??
100% correct! my 3 best friends are gators and we have asuch a playful, fun rivalry. my wife and i are 26, and they are around that age. we all work hard, pay our taxes, and own homes in s. florida. we love getting together to play rock band and watch whatever sport is on TV. I actually played for FSU from 2000-2002 (football) so i know first hand of some the unreal doings of bigtime college football. i grew up a miami fan, but played for FSU b/c it was my best option for football and school.

anyway...you are right about letting the "creator" of an entity also be the destructor. i witnessed first hand the change of guard in FSU. my first year was when FSU lost to oklahoma in the nat'l title game. we were loaded with NFL talent and still had Mark Richt, a great coach. Bobby had NOTHING to do with that teams success. and i stress NOTHING!!! as far as game to game operations. he may have played in hand in recruiting 4 years prior, but that doesn't equal success.

when richt left, bobby stepped in and promoted his alcoholic son to OC, who had zero credentials to be the OC. he has to be the ONLY WR coach to become OC. The tight ends/recruiting coordinator John Lilly was more qualified than JB. Coach lilly was awesome BTW.

My dream is to open an ice rink in the stuart, ft. pierce, port st. lucie area b/c i love ice hockey and grew up playing it in south florida. if my kid (which i don't have yet) doesn't want to take over when i'm done, i will A. cash out on the business, or B. try to find someone to take it over.

This is sad but true: My view is that Bobby and JoePa are scared to retire. they are scared they will die a few months after. that is the wrong reason to retire. you should love your business enough to cash out and be satisfied, or leave it to another. bobby is a good man, but doesn't know when to step away. its a shame b/c its ruining his legacy and he is just praying that FSU at least gets back in the top 10 so he die in peace thinking he brought them back, when in fact, he was the reason they fell.

The Seminoles are breaking my heart. And to think Wake could have been up like 24-0 if they hadn't fumbled in FSU territory. Well, I'm not sure if I should be proud of the defense, but they did a great job keeping FSU in the game. We lost against a great team. We need a solid quarterback though and a running back to get some yards. I'm still a Seminole though, win or lose.
“BUCKEYE AND NOLE?”

Good grief. What a pair of losers!

On the other hand, it figures.

O.K., O.K. I predicted a 38-10 'Nole win. That's why I don't bet. Last spring I thought we'd be 2-1 heading into CO game. The 1st games seduced me. We will be O.K. QB's need to settle down, the talent is there. Defense is good. Offense line needs to cath up. Don't get upset.

Hey FSU bashers get a life. We were not at full strength but will be next week. I am excited the defense played so well. Before you order a coffin for FSU try to remember that we were playing a team of seniors some 5th year. BB said there should be at least five in the NFL with the next draft. I am a FSU grad class of '63 and can remember when we didn't have a snow balls chance but we are still here and thriving. Go Noles Go McCain/Palin God Bless the USA. I hope all true Nole fans will read past the posts that come from hateful hearts....Lets support our team and continue to pray for contests without serious injury to the players. God is able if we believe.
“We were not at full strength…”

You get a life ‘nole -- and grow a pair; you used that lame excuse back in 1996, when we kicked your…..ah…..pride in New Orleans. You remember; The Big Easy: Really Big…..really Easy!

You need to get a new line. You’ve worn that one out.

Too funny!!! I can't believe this BS is still going 4 days later. I see the Nolies are on the attack now. Well, what else are they going to do? Their football team sucks balls, and is only getting worse. Their players are still thugs, CRIMINOLES!! Their school is likely to get the smackdown by the NCAA. Their coach, who built a championship team by recruiting thugs, and letting criminals play on his team, and getting into a weak conference, is now a senile old fool who can't even win that weak conference anymore - the Almost Competetive Conference.
Must suck to be a Nole fan, you guys have nothing left to do but bash a team that is undefeated and ranked #4 in the country, owns the Semenholes, and will contend for titles in THE toughest conference in the country, as well as for national titles for years to come.
FSUCKS!!!
How pathetic you Nolies are.:~D

Joe Pa does not need to retire or be fired because he's never received a NOA from the N.C.A.A. Bowden deserves to be fired because he's corrupt and has received 3 NOA's from the N.C.A.A.-'83,'94 and-08. You nole fans better get him out of there before Oct.18th or risk receiving the Death Penalty.
