This is a good pickup. Probably a great value, too. Can't imagine the guy is getting anywhere near 7 freakin' million dollars in 2010 (*cough*Chester Taylor*cough*).

Big upgrade on touchbacks worse starting field position for the other team, and better starts for the Vikings' offense.

I read he also set the NFL Europe record with a 56 yard field goal. Maybe he'll earn the FG/PAT duties when Longwell retires.

Uhh... yeah. That was SARCASM.

Besides, while he was listed as a RFA, Carolina never tendered him a contract, so he doesn't fall into that category since the Vikes locked him up first.

I bet he's getting no more than 1 million.

Makes me forget about losing chester already.....

Seriously, we need defensive help. This does give us that in a way. Starting at the 20 -vs- the 35 will be a boost to our defense. However, if we have no secondary to stop the pass, it really doesn't matter.

Great move. It will save wear and tear on Longwell's leg.Lloyd's a great guy.Loved him with our Gophers.I hope they sign Phillip Buchanon as well. He would be an excellent insurance policy while Griffin heals up. SKOL!

He was an awful kicker for the Gophers, there is a reason he doesn't kick fg's.

Rhys was my kicker in High School at Eastview. Believe me, he can kick it as far as anyone. Accuracy is a question though

Rhys Lloyd will make six figures to kick a ball 4-7 times a game and you are ... well you. Yep, he's the loser.

He kicked the game winner in the Sun Bowl.

He then set the NFL Europe record with a 56 yarder.

Another waste of taking a spot that could be used for something else. also, you can get rid of a long snapper too, another waste of a spot

I agree.

What in the world will the Vikings do when they have to cut some 3th string safety who racked up 2 tackles in garbage time while playing on special teams last year?

There goes the season...

This SO huge; it will help pound other teams into total submission.

Another key element for when the season is on the line

He misses field goals

Favre throws INTs

Fumbles Peterson
