I agree Leslie deserves a head coaching job, somewhere else. But please not here.

Without a revamped offensive line, secondary, and a QB who check down and find an open receiver...a new coach will do nothing for the Vikings...doesn't matter who gets the job.

Charlie, GET IT THRU YOUR Thick Head, WE DO NOT WANT Gruden. He won the SB with Dungy's team. He is a FAKE!

If the season ended today, the Vikings would pick No. 11 overall in April's NFL draft. A loss Sunday in Philadelphia should allow them to move high enough to have a chance at quarterbacks Cam Newton of Auburn or Ryan Mallett of Arkansas. Or if they stay where they are, QB Jake Locker of Washington.

Cam Newton (NO)
Ryan Mallett (YES)
Jake Locker (YES)

And because of that, despite Favre's insistence this is the final of his 20 glorious seasons in the NFL, I'm still not convinced that Favre, who is addicted to attention, will walk away from the game.
It sounds crazy, but if Gruden were to end up coaching the Vikings next season, it wouldn't be surprising if he asked Favre, 41, to hang around for another year.

This is insane. It won't happen Chaz. Immobile 42 year old farve wouldn't last 2 games with that offensive line.

Charley, in Chicago $40 is usually the lowest you'll pay around Soldier Field and to get close to Wrigley. Free enterprise is great and is anybody complained they could have parked elsewhere. Getting that Illinois money into the economy is a good thing.

If the Vikings move into the top 10 of the drafgt, then they need to go for Ryan Mallet, even if it means moving up a pick or two.

Can Newton has too much baggage to add to a team that needs normalcy after facing more off the field distractions that maybe any team in NFL history ever has (Favre's unretirement, Jen Sterger, Childress saga, Randy Moss, Dome collapsing, games in Detriot and at the U, etc.).

Jake Locker scares me -- too many QB busts out of the Pac 10 (Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Cade McNown, Kyle Boeller, Matt Leinhart, etc.)-- though I think Stanford's Andrew Luck will be a star. Locker reminds me of Brian Brohm in that he was a projected top 10 pick who came back for his senior senior year then was exposed as being overhyped.

I think Carson Palmer still has quite a few years left. Can't blame him for being on a poorly coached team and dysfunctional organization like the Bengals dealing with the Ochocincos, the Terrell Owens, the late Chris Henry, and Pac Man Joneses.

Don't forget Kurt Warner looked done playing for the Giants a few years ago, then had a change of scenery and went to Arizona where le led them to the Super Bowl.

This was the first I heard of a spectator getting tackled during Monday nights game. The team should've given both the spectator and the security guard who tackled him a helmet. Sounds like they put up more of a effort to play than the stiffs that were in purple.

Charley Walters is a moron for actually printing that Gruden shuld be next Vikings coach.

Gruden is so full of BS that we would never fit into Dome! Do potential owners of NFL actually listen to this wind bag. He is worse than Madden ever was.

The Vikings will not land any of those QB's, even if they have the 9th pick in the draft. Teams picking ahead of them that want a QB would include Carolina, Cincy, Arizona, Buffalo, San Fran, and (possibly) Denver (depends on if the new coach wants Tebow or not).

It would make little sense to pick the 5th best QB when you could grab one of the top couple O-line guys or a real CB that can actually cover guys.

And I didn't even need a little birdie to tell me that.

This has got to be one of the dumbest articles I've read in a long time. Just because Gruden inherited a good team doesn't make him a great coach. And Favre was a shadow of his former self this year, why would we want him back another year older? The Vikings desperately need a franchise QB and bringing Favre back for another year would just leave us another year behind developing someone who can help in the future.

Gruden took over a team that finished 9-7 and got smoked at Philly in the playoffs for the second year in a row by a score of 21-3. The year before they got pounded 31-9 by the Eagles.

Gruden went 12-4 and went on the road and beat Philly on the way to the Super Bowl where they beat the team that Gruden built. Do a little research.

If the Vikings cannot draft Luck (which will be virtually impossible) then Locker from Washington should be the teams choice. Cam Newton would be experimental ala Tebow.

I do think it would be a mistake to build a football stadium without a roof, but if they opt for an open air stadium then the Metro-Dome should be an ongoing viable facility for other events like NCAA tourneys, Gophers baseball, high school playoffs, concerts, etc.

Mike Martz also won a superbowl.....greatest show on turf!

Gruden is a blow-hard and took a chance and ran towards Dungy's team AFTER he took them out of the gutter and went to Indy. Dungy also won a SuperBowl plus went to three many many playoffs in his years of NFL service unlike Gruden.

Besides he was let go because he couldn't do anything with that team after most of Dungy's players left or retire.

People ....... do you even know how to Wikipedia Dungy? no comparisons.

Hire a coach who is willing to take the lumps and rebuild this team, not someone who can talk and look bad.

TEAMS have to do their homework on Locker..........like I said before this kid has been drafted 2x by MLB. He may get to the NFL and after a year decide he wants to make more money and have a lengthy relatively painless career in baseball..........use a first round pick on him and then find out he is demanding some type of clause in his contract freeing him up to make a move to another sport and you are azz out. Just sayin'.........something for a team to consider.

There are others as well this draft..PRYOR(most likely), Moore, Devlin, McElroy..........I would love to see the VIkes land one of the big 3, but if not, all hope is not lost. I think they should get a FA QB as well, especially if you dump TJ. That would leave them with a FA, drafted one, and Webb.

Dungy's offenses never even sniffed a superbowl, until Gruden worked with Brad Johnson....you probably know football, but you might have forgotten this.....Gruden has a great pedigree, and excells at working with Qb's and progressive offense.....
