ORLANDO, Fla. - Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield summed up the NFL's new overtime rule with these words: "Too little, too late!!!" Winfield said in text messages that he "absolutely" wishes the rule had been in place last season because the Vikings might have benefited in the NFC championship game they lost to New Orleans. Like it really matters. This team would choke in o.t with the game on the line just as they always do in regulation. Instead, in overtime, they would send 13 guys on the field!

It won't help it will just extends a game that 1 hour takes 3 hours to play. Boring......
You now what I find kinda funny, the NFL said they felt the coin toss was unfair so they made these new changes to "even the playing field" in OT so to speak. Well guess what, a coin toss still determines who gets the ball first even with these changes. Now a TD would end the OT session right? So now you are gonna have teams who get the ball first simply play to get in the EZ instead of for a FG, almost always a team would settle for a FG instead of punching it in under the old rules, now they will try to punch it in, granted it will be a bit harder but I don't see the "playing field evened" that much with these changes, the coin toss will still be a huge deciding factor in these OT sessions,IMO.

Bad wording in above post, I mean the coin toss will still be a factor in deciding the game, not a huge one but still a factor none the less.

All this is because the Vikings were supposed to win the Superbowl.
Where is it written. I also think it won't help because the last team that handles the ball will have a chance to win just like the overtime rule they have now. Then the crying will begin again. When a team has 12 men in the huddle and the QB throws an interception that is not superbowl material. Because the Viking defense couldn't stop the Saints is not because of the overtime. It was because of their mistakes. Win the game in regulation then there will be no contriversary. The more rules they put on football will make for a long drawn out boring game. I can't imagine that someone is supposed to win the big game. JMHO

Hard to believe there are still so many whining Vike fans out there still. Refs didn't determing the outcome, Vike turnovers in the RZ and boneheaded mistakes did. 12 men in the huddle?

Not if the first team to get the ball in OT scores a TD, game is over then.
