Indianapolis Colts Must Avoid Brett Favre Scenario with Peyton Manning
Brett Favre and Peyton Manning have a few things in common. Both will almost certainly become first-ballot Hall of Famers, both had immense consecutive starts streaks in the NFL and both are from the South.

The Colts better hope and pray this becomes a Brett Favre scenario. EVERY player has their career come to and end. For very few it ends pretty. It clearly cannot end pretty in Indianapolis no matter what decision is made. Fans are going to have opinions and they won't all agree.
It is obvious that the Colts are going to draft Andrew Luck. It is equally clear that a player like Luck will not be forced to sit for years. Manning has already been medically cleared. Peyton hasn't worked this hard to simply retire now. It is not a matter of "if" Peyton and the Colts part ways, it is a matter of "when" they part ways.
The Packers made a business and football decision to go in another direction. It worked out well for the Packers. The Colts would be stupid NOT to wish for a Brett Favre type scenario. The Packers transitioned from one great QB to another and gained a draft pick in the process. Can it work out any better than that for the Colts?
