I sure hope he stays--He is the best and is worth every penney and we best hold on to him--out-side QB Farwell is the most important

Birk picked a bad year to have a poor season. Most likely, another team will be willing to overpay for him, but the Vikes won't resign him without a major salary cut. As far as Jimmy K. goes, there is not much demand out there for a TE/blocking back that can't catch. Vikes will end up resigning him for close to the league minimum.

I would like Farwell on the team but he is not completely neccessary. We went to the playoffs without him all last year. A hungry college player (another back up linebacker) can do the same thing Heath does 8-10 times a game. With a new Special Team coach next year a new scheme could easily make up for his loss if he leaves the Vikes.

Farwell needs to be signed, Period.

Birk had a poor season? Says who? Even if he did, who do we have that is as good as he is? Ryan Cook? Hell no! John Sullivan?

If Birk walks, we'd better go after Jeff Saturday or some other good FA Center, otherwise we're only downgrading our OL that much further. Meanwhile Cook, for some ungodly known reason, remains on the roster.

If we lose Farwell, Birk and Kleinsasser, we're going to be hard-pressed to replace them via FA, and just as hard-pressed to get back to 10-6 next year, regardless of who the QB is.

I don't know if Farwell can start for anybody as a linebacker, but if that is his real goal, then he is gone. I want him back here in the worst way, the guy is a special team stud. No doubt in my mind his presence on the field wold have eliminated most of the large yardage we gave up on special teams last year. He is as good as it gets on special teams. Wish him luck in whatever he chooses, but I hope he comes back. Pay him whatever you have to.
As for Kleinsasser, he's been paid a ton of money for his time here (statistically well overpaid). He's very good at what he does however, just hope from a purely business standpoint, we don't overpay for him again. Give him Tapeh's old contract and call it good.

Staying here is a waste of a career for any good player. This is a sick organization, dedicated to losing.

Chili treated him well by calling at 2am to chat? Now there's an idiot coach we can all get behind. Heath apparently is either an insomniac or is looking for any kind of attention. Glad Klink doesn't have my number.

Nice that you writers could finally pony up with a Viking article after a weeks absense. It's not like anyone really cares about the Twinkies or the Goofers but they got their new stadiums. It wouldn't hurt to dust off your keyboards and write an article once in a while since the Vikes are condemned to the Metroslum. At least you could demonstrate some pretense of caring about the Vikings before they bolt for LA.

Farwell testing free agency is laughable--idiot. I've appreciated Birk and Kleinsasser's contributions but it's probably time for them to move on.

We've had very good off seasons during the Wilf/Childress era. Let's hope the trend continues. There are plenty of places on this team that dominant pickups could step into; o-line, qb, db. Two more dominant o-linemen and T-Jack's a brilliant SOB.:)

I would say you are correct Dan, Kleinsausage will stay, the Vikes will make a run at Farwell, unless his knee isn't progressing as planned. Birk' restaurant business tanked right after the season, so I think that was a sign.
Warner and Boldin
If you can drug them, I'll drive them back from Phoenix and drop them off at the Metrodump.

We all know Heath is a stud special teamer and would be a valuable back-up for E.J. His chances are slim to start elsewhere due to his lack of size and injury. Offer him a nice raise with incentives but don't overpay. Jordan Gross should be considered the top FA priority if the Panthers don't tag him tomorrow. A stud WR like T.J. Housh, or Boldin would bring home a championship. The Defense will be fine (barring the suspensions). QB= Leftwich is 29 and is a leader with valuable experience. Warner will not come to Minn. Garcia would be a nice fit if for a decent price.

Hicks gets cut and Farwell will probably sign elsewhere. I think the priorities for the draft are slightly shifting to OL, QB and SPT. We might sign a CB in FA instead of getting one in the draft. However if we don't go that route D.J. Moore is an intriguing prospect at 22 because he is not only a good CB he is a good KR and can even play Wr. Frantz Joseph from Florida International is climbing up the draft boards and would make a great replacement for Farwell. An ILB with very good speed and a tackling machine. A bit light but thats fine for special teams and he can put on a few pounds. Look for him in the fourth round.
