Taxpayer Subsidy

Windermere, FL

#24 Jan 18, 2009
Once again it is proven that taxpayer subsidies do not work and never will. Any economic enterprise will rise or fall on its own merits --- management, labor, and product lines which must be enhanced by, may I dare to say good old fashion "customer service" and "customer appreciation. I stopped shopping years ago at Circuit City as it failed to produce in all of these areas. Which brings me to the next point, Lake's taxpayers have been subsidizing its so-called "business development and recruitment" office for years with virtually no results, with practically give-aways at the Chris Ford industrial park, but in reality, none of this is just cost-effective but exists only for PR-spin only, so even though Ms. Keedy is a very nice person, it is time for her and her staff to be written-off as just another wasteful government program. If free-enterprise can't do the job then who amongst thinks that another government agency can?

In the meantime, the idiots on the county commission continue with their tax and spend philosophy, the cities (like Tavares) continue with boondoggles like the seaplane base and water taxi.
These dopes need to understand what basic services government is supposed to provide and then do it.

The Villages will one day annex the entire Lake County area all it ever will be good for is old people! After they annex Lake County build a wall around it so the old people can't get out and clog up other parts. Another good thing about it getting cold in North Florida keeps their limits down. I was in Publix it took an elderly women 10 minutes to write a check five people in line behind me walked away. They lost five customers over that one old lady! Mind you the wall doesn't have to be that high.
And you will be old some day. Maybe, you could have graciously paid for her purchase( I doubt it was that much) and told her that it was her lucky day, or that "this one's on me". It would have made her day and probably be the only good thing you've ever done.
Then again, a jerk with an attitude like yours, wouldn't think of doing something like that.

....Management at Circuit City was horrible.
You're absolutely right on that one. I used to work at CC in high school and a little in college and the management at my store are these 25, 26 year old guys that doesn't take their job too seriously. My former store manager used to come in for work dressed like he was going to a club, with flip flops. Of course, no customers complained because they assumed he was another customer walking around based on the way he dressed. The DAY I was interviewed to work at CC, I didn't even know he was the manager until one of the employees there told me that was him. When I looked over, he was looking for CDs for himself dressed the same way I explained above.

Another thing I noticed while employed at CC was there deliveries. As you know, CC's sales week starts on Sunday morning (they may of changed it after I quit so I could be wrong). Their deliveries are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So when I have customers asking me on Sunday if we have this sale item in stock, I had to turn them away because we didn't. The common question asked by them was "why do you have these items on sale and not in-stock?

Last major thing I noticed while working there is the managements maturity level but I'm not going to get into it because that's another 20 sentence worth. So yea, I do see how CC ran out of business. Granted I do still shop there a little now and then but I go to Best Buy first just because they always have items I need in stock and their prices are not that much off. I usually shop at CC when a new CD or DVD comes out because their prices are lower in their first release week.

Circuit City was the worst shopping experience I ever witnessed. I went in to shop for a 42" flat screen TV. The sales person was completely aloof and unhelpful and bordering on indignant. To boot the store was so LOUD with all the boom boxes and TVs blaring it made my head spin.

The guy made a very valid point about an old bag and her check writing. Those of you defending her are just as ignorant as she is. There is ZERO reason to write a check in a retail establishment these days. Get your check card and join the 21st century instead of inconveniencing everyone else each time you go to the store. Oh, and stay out of the Wal Mart self checkout lines, because you're too slow and stupid to use them.

It should be funny to see a pig like you at that age. You'll still be using whatever technology was good for you at age 50 and some impatient kid will be all beside himself waiting for your asss to finish your SLOW transaction.
You will get old or die young...dumbasss. There is no alternative.
I'd love for you to say something to me in line. I'm not old, but I'd write a check just to see what you'd do. I'm sure you're a real tough guy.

James, why don't you just drop dead? Idiots like you are not worth my time, but it is important that someone calls you on your stupidity every once in awhile. The vast MAJORITY of older people no longer write checks. They use their debit cards retard, so the change definitely can be made. But there are still enough stupid ones like you that are not smart enough to handle the change. Fortunately, even when I am old and senile, I will still have more mental capacity than you ever possessed in your entire lifetime, and will be able to keep up with the times. Unfortunately, I probably lost a few brains cells just now responding to someone as stupid as you.

I'm amazed that you can spell "stupid'...tough guy. Go change your diaper and get back to work. Those WalMart bathrooms don't clean themselves.

I've got an idea! Why don't they attract real estate developers to develop more residential housing in Lake County. I bet that would improve the local job market.

Well, your post referred to jobs "in the county." So, uh, if you weren't referring to the specific Lake County store, then...what WAS your comment about?

Not ONCE did I feel like anyone was there to help me. Instead I'd see a group of employees gathered together playing grab-****. When I asked for help once I was told someone would be right over....15 mins later NOTHING. And this wasn't just one location. I tried several locations. Management at Circuit City was horrible.
That has nothing to do with management. It has to do with lazy, good for nothing employees who don't do their job. That is why Circuit City failed.

So...you're using Circuit City as an excuse and an example, but admitting that the example isn't relevant...Gotcha.

Hmm...if in 4 weeks you haven't bothered to make a follow-up inquiry or find out using other means, I'd have to include you don't care that much. Heaven forbid a traffic light fail when you're stopped at the light. Apparently you'd die of starvation, right there at the light, unable to take any action of your own initiative.

No, but then I don't have to struggle to undo my last few posts to look less stupid, like you do.

Now, go back to fifth period French and learn the meaning of TETE DU MERDE, young'un...

I honestly don't mind people continue to write checks. If that's what they do, so be it. However, if you choose to write one, please don't do it at a express / self checkout counter OR at a retail electronic store all just for a $10 DVD or CD. You already make me sick just because you refuse to learn to slide a card and push a few buttons.

Exactly what happened.
I was stuck at the darn light for more than 3 weeks. Had no phone with me. Everybody I waved to just drove by.
Ain't no messages from Pier One on
my home phone. Now I'm fixin' to call
them.
