Joey Porter hopes to regain stature in 3-4

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

It's obviously not going to be easy to replace a perennial Pro Bowl player who has contributed double-digit sack seasons six of the past eight years, but that's the challenge the Dolphins will be facing if ...

Well, it doesn't much matter if you're a "Tuna's a jerk" guy or you're a "JT's a jerk" guy. Look's like we have some unknowns that will need to step up. A lot of people will hear names like Moses and laugh, but tomorrow's pro bowler's start out unknown having to prove something. I like that we have depth, a competitive roster, and a team first attitude. Someone will rise to the occasion.

Why do you mention Moses in the DEs discussion when he'd project as an OLB in the 3-4?

Anyone see the cbssportline nfl power rankings, they have the fin dead last. Boy are they going to serprise a lot of people. I can see them getting 8 victories. At least these guys will play smash mouth ball and the oppentents will know they were in a physical game after playing them. Smash mouth football is back and with our OL paving the way for ronnie/ricky we have a chance to beat good teams.

I think if Jason Taylor is correct and being Honest wit what he i saying about wanting to be remembered for his future Hollywood endevours, he will just RETIRE, so he could take the Dolphins off the hook for his contract, instead of asking for a trade. If he really is looking to his future, than why should he CARE about which team he plays for this year? He may not agree woth Parcells way of going about it, but Parcells said what he said because he WANTS Jason on the team. They asked for a 1st round pick beczause they KNEW NOONE Was gonna gove one. PARCELLS and CO WANTS HIM, to PLAY this year, for the fins.
If ot were me, And Jason wants to be a baby about it, I would ghrant him his wish, and Trade him tot he Atlanta Falcons. he wants a trade, He gets one. To another rebuilding team!

Just think, the last time this team actually made a run at the playoffs we had a walking, talking, rather creepy, mustache for a head coach. If Jason wants to star in Doom part II, so be it. However, this is a football team, and the only acting we do around here is when another player gives you a shove. At that point you make a dramatic fall to the ground...if your performance warrants it, you will receive your oscar in the form of a little yellow towel. Jason could end all the nonsense by making one comment to the media: "---- is when I'll report to camp. NO, I'm not quitting. YES, I will be playing for the Dolphins this season. Now ---- off!...Any more questions???" He will make no such comments though. Jason is caught up in the Hollywood hot air balloon. Football is too much work. And why WORK for a living when so many people might adore you for simply shaking your ---? God help him. I for one hope that Joey Porter locks himself in a room full of Lawrence Taylor tapes and comes out a new man. I don't think Joey Porter's career is over, it just needs a little make over.

Keep hoping. Parcells blew it and now we won't have any decent pass rush. Porter's overrated.

Porter is NOT overrated. He played in a 3-4 @ Pit and a 4-3 here. Since we are going to the 3-4 he should return to his dominance. Plus his knee is better.

Taylor is pretty much pissing me off! If wants to play get to camp, dancing is over. If you want Hollywood RETIRE Today! Get it over with. I for one am tired of hiring about Taylor not @ camp.

My prediction Bess will be our biggest surprise of the season. Thoughts...

hopefully , Porter replaces Taylor and all will be good .
does anyone know the scoop on Quentin Moses ? He was drafted in 3rd round and cut by Oakland before the season started . Picked up and released by Arizona a month later . Was picked up by Miami and is still on the team . What was getting him cut ?

Let me tell you why Jason can't make it in Hollywood. 1. He's old - too old to learn a new skill. 2. He's too tall - standing at 6-6, he'd make the Tom Cruise's look like babys. Even guys like Tom Selleck can't get the big jobs because he's too tall at 6-4. 3. Jason will go out a 'loser' not a 'hero' by pulling a Ricky flake-out.

The truth is Jason Taylor has one path to celebrity: Go out a winner in Miami, get bit roles in movies and hope for a commentator's role on TV sports. That's it or open a restaurant like Don Shula.

This is reality. JT is living in fantasy land.

The first paragraph of this article is the sort of garbage that everyone is writing. How do you replace a double digit sack producer who "misses training camp"??? What does that mean? It makes no sense. Either say he is retiring or being traded, then you can ask how he is going to be replaced. This is the exact scenario that goes on with teams every year with big name players. Heck the same "showdown" is happening with Chicago and Urlacher right now. These players do not need camp to perform so it's not a story until he's either traded or he retires.

Here you go, all you JT bashers. The national media thinks that Parcells and co. have royally screwed up the handling of the JT issue:

The guy was paid $20 million dollars to perform. When he wasn't performing, I never read ONE post from anyone offering up the 3-4 vs. 4-3 excuse. Unlike Porter, JT performs year in and year out, no matter what defense is installed (and we've had more than I can count since he's been here). Take that to the bank, Mr. Porter lova.

You're viewing the world from a wonderfully optimistic perspective today, which makes you feel good. However, it's important that you keep your feet on the ground and don't allow yourself to be carried away by wishful thinking or unrealistic expectations. These will lead you in the wrong direction and you'll be bitterly disappointed when reality intrudes on your lovely dreams.
