David,

I'm with you on everything except for two spots. I believe the Bears need to keep Caleb Hanie on the roster and not risk putting him on the practice squad for a team to come in and grab him up. Aren't teams allowed inactives for games, besides the 53-men on the roster? How does that work?

Also, it's time to 'cut the cord' with Terrence Metcalf and keep Anthony Oakley. Oakley has shown he can handle both center and guard. And, he's done pretty decent when given the chance.

Metcalf had his chance last year and didn't 'rise to the challenge' and played 'scared'. Metcalf has been coming down with too many bumps and bruises lately to risk a roster spot on him. Plus, releasing Metcalf frees up more cap room if a decent guard or tackle becomes available.

I agree for the most part, but I think they should cut Booker and keep Rideau. Also I wish they would just cut McKie and keep Polite. Also I think the dumbest move would be to put Hanie on the PS. Another team will snatch him up and in a couple of years he will be staring for another team while the Bears are still looking for a QB.

I have a question.. WHY is cutting Manning Jr so Obvious to everyone?? Why isnt Daniael manning's move to nickle not questioned by more people??

What has Daniael ever done to earn so much confidence, SPECIALLY at that position? Im not saying Manning Jr was lighting the world of fire but i obviously missed the part in which we suddenly have not one, but 3 guys better than him.

I also missed the part in which Daniael manning Jr was a better fit at that position.

I know one guy who shouldn't be on the team. Rex Grossman!

Polite should be a lock. Get rid of Peterson or Wolfe if not both. Bennett and Booker need to go. There is nothing sure handed when Booker is involved. Hass deserves to make the squad, umm Tom Waddle anyone. This crap about the draft is Angelo trying to cover his @$$ by cutting players who can help the team now, and keeping his draft busts! Its sad to think we could even cut any lineman at all considering we have nothing as far as depth. And Hanie on practice squad?? I dont think so. He is 3rd string given the often inconsistency at the position with the other 2. Grossman should be cut, I'd say traded but after his preseason nobody would take him. Pick up a quality backup.

Orton learned under fire when Grossman went down a few years ago- sure, they had a great defense.
Grossboy is now officially a malcontent crybaby who lacks poise out there for a guy 4 years in the league. Way past the time for potential. And with that experience now Orton is more polished.

Therefore, dump Grossboy and keep Hanie in the mix and if he has to play, let him play. They're not going anywhere anyway. Let this be a 16 game pre-season for next year.
Fans can stomach that if they see a light at the end of the tunnel.

I agree with ya. Actually I thought both should be cut early and was hoping they would be traded in the off season, but we see how Angelo did!!! Manning Jr was burned repeatedly vs San Fran the other night. Personnel decisions are terrible with this team!

David, don't you think if the Bears put Hanie on the practice squad, some other NFL team might potentially steal him and put him on their 52 man roster?

Seems potentially dangerous to me, if you think this kid has serious upside anyway.

and definitely agree with those who want to jetison terrence "turnstyle" metcalf ...

not even a decent backup player in this league - should have been gone years ago.

They really should cut Wolfe. Seems like an some high draft picks from the '07 draft were named as potentially being cut. Oh yeah and Grossman...Lets definately cut Grossman!

I can't wait for the Bears to cut Hanie and Hass, and then watch them later in the Pro-Bowl representing another team.

Booker was a sentimental pick up, but younger talent should put him out to pasture. Keep Bradley and Lloyd. I could care less about draft position ... it if Steltz and Bazuin aren't cutting it, let them go along with Okwo. We need players, not draft picks. Bazuin's comment on his draft position helping his status annoyed me.

Bears have never given Mike Hass any sort of chance to make this team.Granted he doesn't have speed of the others, but he would be an excellent 3rd down receiver, given that Rashad Davis won't be in that role now.
He should be given extended playing time on Thursday, and than fake some sort of injury so they can hide him on reserve.Otherwise
some other team will pick him up,and if so the Bears will be sorry for letting a very promising player go.

mike hass will probably sign with the jags or somebody and produce like he should have with the bears. unless the guy runs a 5.2 40...and NEVER gets seperation...i'm not sure i'll ever understand why he was never given ANY chance. reminds me of waddle. underrated guy who can catch the ball but doesn't get cred because he can't fly past defenders. but guess what...can't score a td if you don't catch the ball, something the guy is a freak at doing...

Maybe I haven't seen enough of Hass but he really hasn't impressed me at all. whats to like about him? He doesn't seem to get open if he does he drops the ball..I hear he's a great receiver in practice though..Id rather keep Rideau!

This team is the worst at evaluating talent. They Released Marcus Monk, and within 2 days was picked up by the Giants. Do you see why other teams around the league watch and wait to see what Chicago kicks out so they can acquire them. Star Search does better talent scouting than these geniouses! What a joke this team is.

AP2 is too important to our special teams unit to cut, there is no way he will be let go - especially with last years departure of Ayanbadejo. Cutting Garrent "the next Reggie Bush" Wolfe makes a lot more sense. He has shown flashes of brilliance but he will get stuffed at the line - EVERY time. His major contribution would come on special teams and the occasional screen pass.

Mackie is solid, why is everyone so down on him? Do you really think that Politte would be better?

Keep Grossman as a backup, he knows the offense. He is only under a one year contract and Hanie is not ready to start in this league - yet. It's just what I expected, now that the Boo Birds have finally gotten Rex out and Kyle in, it is time for them to turn their negative attention to Orton until he folds under the pressure of being a QB for this team. With our fans, it really is surprising that we have QB's that will suit up for games. I think Rex is inconsistent as much as the next guy, but for the crap the fans gave him and how he always handled the media, I respect him.

Booker needs to go to make room for the younger guys (Bradley and Haas).

As far as defense, we will be fine. TallyBears fan has it dead on with players not cutting it and draft status. I don't care if Steltz was labeled a starter on draft day, if he hasn't shown he can run with the big dogs, then let him go. Marcus Monk was labeled by some as the steal of the draft and he's not even in consideration. Draft Status(?)- to quote Angelo himself, I don't give a ****.
