In a nutshell this is why a lockout will be avoided, even if it means the league doesn't get it's 18 game format as projected. Too much to lose, NFL needs to build on their current success, not ruin it by locking out.

The unwillingness of owner's to open their books is a hint that maybe their revenues are not getting hit all that hard by rising player salaries.

The rookie wage scale, HGH blood testing, player's salaries, and post retirement health care for player's are all issues that can be settled.......the 18 game format is the one that will be the hardest to negotiate. Hope the NFL doesn't get to greedy and if an impasse does occur the league can back down and barter. Player's don't want the 18...PERIOD.

The league also has what is being termed "lockout insurance" from the TV networks.........1 billion will be paid by DirecTV to the NFL even if there are no games played.

Revenue sharing is the issue,I believe their about 7% apart and the owners want it lowered.Players want all they can get for themselves and future players, plus pensions.
Don't see either side moving and I believe they'll be locked out.
I've seen these same owners, most of them at it before.
Replacement teams will be assembled.

Gotta chime in quick since I'm at work and on lunch.

Does this mean we can start TJ?

Would we honor a SB win if it was with a bunch of scrubs?

No on TJ unless he crosses the line.

This would be a monumental mistake were this to transpire!

Childress the NFL has the "hottest ticket in town right now"..........their goal should be to build on this momentum, not bring it to a grinding halt, the whole time losing a portion of it's fan base even though it may only be for a short time. I JUST DON'T THINK EITHER SIDE will let this come to fruition..........I understand greed but this is business suicide in a way were the season be locked out.

And what about the 18 game schedule suggested by the NFL?
