Its beginning to sound like the players need to be reminded of what life working in the real world is like.

Yes, they should just sign the contract without reviewing the fine print and get screwed for the next 10 years

Please tell me you would not want to get 'screwed' like that. Playing football (a sport you played as a child) and getting paid millions, vaulting you on to personal lifetime stardom beyond belief for the rest of your life, in a world of 6 billion people, many of whom will just be happy to wakeup in the morning.

Sorry, I don't buy the 'screwed' idea of an adult being able to continue his childhood fantasy on into his 20's to late 30's while being given all the wealth needed to sculpt and secure a second life of comfort after doing so.

Even the ones that don't play long in the league, are given a path to living a very comfortable life because they merely can attach their name to it.

There was nothing close to being screwed. It was just a matter of millions in a world where after so much, it doesn't matter how many. If it does, your living your life wrong.

Exactly who is holding a gun to their heads and forcing them to play pro ball? They are free to quit and go work in a cubicle for $60K / year anytime they want.

I never supported 'them'. I support the game, no matter who plays it. Granted,'they', which includes owners and coaches as well as players, can effect how much 'support' I give it,(I) as one of the fans, determine just how much support they get in the end.

The fans determine the value of the game, not the players or anyone else. Don't believe me, try holding a league where nobody pays to get in to see the games. See how big your league gets.

They are all greedy, so we all pay their salaries to watch them. Coaches, players, owners......

Which is why they need to remember the OVERALL popularity of the game, in the end will be the decider in the overall wealth of the sport.
