Sizing up Dolphins has resulted in upsizing

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

After last season, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano was upfront about what his playoff team needed to get to the next level - get "bigger and stronger." Based on roster moves the team has made the past few weeks the Dolphins are closer to achieving Sparano's goals.

Sounds good to me, looks like they are hunting big MFers. If The MF'ers have quick foot speed all the better, In Tuna we trust.

I am assuming that Sparano means that they have seen Grove play against the Pats, Jets and Bills NT's.
Maybe Cameron Wake will be the Prize of this offseason. Tony McDaniel sounds like he could benefit from a change in scenery.

and they are going to play McDaniel at end. at 6"7" he should be pretty good at batting down passes. I like the idea of drafting a couple of
cornerbacks.

Sounds like Duke Robinson, the 6'5" 335 lb LG from Oklahoma would be a great fit if the Dolphins can pick him up in the 2nd round. Imagine putting him between Jake Long and Grove and how well Ronnie & Co cnan run on the left side.

All I know is Tom Brady is gonna stand back in the Shotgun look to his left and see Joey Porter standing there...Maybe he turns to look right he actually has to lean around McDaniel's just to see Wake lining up somewhere in space...Then right before he lifts his leg to tell the center to snap the ball he sees Bell and Wilson playing that game that the Ravens play with their Safeties...The which ones coming to take your head off dance as I like to call it.

If we can pick up a stud ILB in the draft. We should be A-OK for the long haul. Corners are important in a 4-3 not so much in a 3-4. You use pressure to force passes to the wrong WR in a 3-4. Where as in the 4-3 your looking to stop the run first then worry about shutting done the pass game.

Omar,
Grove was healthy his first 3 full years. he didn't make his NFL debut until the 8th game of his rookie season. he played in 10 games in his 2nd year but didn't miss time due to injury. I hear everyone say "he only played one full season", but he has only missed games due to injury in '07 and '08. in fact, he was available to play in 67 out of 80 games. yes he has been injured but not nearly as much as some make it out to be.

its starts up front.

if you cannot run the ball or protect the QB it doesn't matter who you have at the skill positions.

and on D if you cannot stop the run or rush the passer you wont be able to win many games.

i think Joey Porter won us 2 games last year alone with late game key sacks.

If this is a surprise to people, it should not be.

Sporano is an ex-O line coach who reflects Parcells desire to be bigger and stronger up front on both sides of the ball, hence the reason Satelle was dealt to Oakland and a larger, better run-blocking center was aquired from the same team. The Wildcat package was mainly adopted due to the lack of push up the middle of the Dolphins OLine.

Now, the Dolphins want to shore up their ability to penetrate and disrupt on defense. The realize that they coached and schemed over their heads last year. This year, they want to be able to dictate due to size, tecnique and speed on both the point of attack and in front of their linebackers, better freeing up Porter to wreak havoc.

To run better and to pressure in a divison that just picked up Terrell Owens, and will see the return of a healthy Tom Brady is paramount.

Parcells and company are addressing those issues.

That having been said - Get me a gamebreaking WR!

Grove vs Satele Grove wins by KO he came Vatach they play a pro style power running game. Satele came from UH and the rainboe warriors playa run and shoot off and run the ball very little it is a clear upgrade and any one who says otherwise hasnt watched any game film.I watched the raiders jets and the raiders pats games(just the raider running plays and Grove played great getting good push and sometimes getting the next level to get blocks on LBs and S and was never pushed back. Watching Satele against the pats and jets was painful to watch he was pushed back more often than not and never got the push and ron and rick was hit in the back field never getting the space to do any thing. If Grove can stay healthy it is a big upgrade at that position

Jet fans are dumb it must be in the water, these guys got there buts smacked last yr, they give away there starting QB to a division rival and then watch as he took that team to the division title by kicking the crap out of his old team the jets and yet the jet fans keep coming on the dolphin forums and talking crap. I guess thats all they got, it is hard to watch the jets stink up the joint every yr for 40 yrs and not get bitter.

Let me see if I can get this correct; Back when we made the Grove deal what did we give up a 7th I forget. Then later we made the Satele deal. So at the end of the day as Sporano would say,we basically swapped and got a stronger Center while also moving up in the draft order. Even if Im incorrect I think we stil got the better outcome. And as someone was saying earlier, Grove was only injured in the '07 and '08 seasons not his whole career. Remember BP doesnt let his players be injured(who said that last season, I think it was Joey Porter, anyone remember?)so I have all the confidence in the world that Grove will make it through all 16 games...GO PHINS!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Libra

Someone is shooting from the hip today, making them irascible and all too liable to fly off the handle. Be very wary about provoking them into further outbursts, particularly where the vexed topics of money and sex are concerned. If you're trying to sort out a financial problem you will also be prone to losing your rag and banging your fist on the table. But will that help?
