'Bono' expected to give Dolphins' special teams an edge

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

They call him Bono , but the only microphone used by Dolphins special-teams coach John Bonamego is the hands-free contraption strapped around his waist that he uses to bellow orders at his charges during ...

Is it just me, or is anyone else tired of hearing the same old song and dance about the coaches? They're all "committed" and are the "smartest guys we've ever learned from". Blah Blah Blah. I keep seeing articles pretty much to that effect yet, I still continue to see mental errors on Sunday, missed tackles, stupid penalties, sloppy play, and lack of fire. I've got an idea, when they actually put a PRO Football team on the field, THEN write an article about what a difference the coach as made. Until then, I really don't want to read another article on this subject.....

I hear you on that, and then Harvey also talks about how we a ranked in the top half of the league in starting field position, both offense and defense. What good is that when the Offense proceeds to go 3 and out 90% of the time, and the D gets taken 75 to 90 yards down the field 65% of the time. Then theres still tons of room for improvement on this guys sqaud, I just hope we start to see it all the way across the board this week, then the losses wouldnt hurt so bad...GO PHINS!!!

"Bono" gives us an "Edge"? When are we signing Larry Mullins, Jr. and Adam Clayton?

Is he responsible for the 12 men on the field? Then he shouldn't be yelling at anyone but himself. Go get 'em bono.

Dear Idiots,

The Dolphins were 1-15 last year, you can't turn a franchise around overnight. We've played 2 games, and it's almost an entirely new team. Give it another few weeks. If we are having this discussion at 0-5, then we might have something to talk about.

We've also played 2 pretty good football teams.

you guys are biatching...but the special team's been an improvement over last year! and that's all I can ask for at this point!

Ocala, Bono has nothing to do with the team going 3 and out when he gets them to the 31 yard line!

Ocala's posts are so simple minded they border on "special". The crack about "Thanking God" when Crocker was injured spoke volumes. Any other 'phins you'd like to see injured in order to fulfill your brilliant vision?

You can have all the coaching in the world, but it won't help a talentless team.

Unless they bring in the real "Bono" for a halftime concert I am still not going to bother going to these games. I much rather watch from home so when the game gets out of hand, like the cardinal games, I can just turn the channel. No florida sun, no blistering heat, no drunk obnoixious jets fans, no outragous prices for parking and beer....yes its much better easier to tolerate the crap product they have been shovling us for a few years now.

There isnt a good player on the team. No Brady's, no Mannings, no LT's, no TO's, no Randy Moss's. No player to attract fans or make plays. Pure garbage.

I am sick and tired of these BS articles. Talk is cheap, performance is translated to the field!!. So far these Great coaches have not show me anything. I'd was optimistic and predicted the phins to win 7 games. If these wizbang coaches are worth their salt, the phins might...might win 4. That being Seattle, Oakland, Rams and Kansas City, which is not saying much, but I'll take it!!. C'mon guys!!. I know the players don't really give a Shit what the fans think, but we are starving for a win

Sporano is a rookie... and a puppet i think... it looks to me like the Tuna is really the one calling the shots... seems very familiar to me as I watched TUNA coach here in dallas for 3 years... Vet QB... over young stud armed QB... looks VERY familiar

We have a Special Team's Edge and we keep him on the bench. Ted Ginn and Family score multiple ST TDs last year while the rest of the ST was getting flagged. Explain this to us....

Well, maybe "Bono" should spend more time counting to 11 than trying "motivate" his groupies....no excuse for 12 on the field, none. It rarely happens in HS football. The special teams captain is tasked with counting every single time prior to the snap. Asst coaches are also tasked to count 11 on every personnel exchange. This is bush league stuff. Just another reason franchise owners should not hire rookie HC when team is rebuilding mode. Shame.

Agree. Look, no fan in his right mind thought we were going to the playoffs this year. Even the most optimistic projected 8-8.

But I think most of us were thinking 5 or 6 wins. And ALL of us expected to see some improvement. You know, light at end of the tunnel? So far, the only light we've seen is another train.
