Minnesota Vikings 2010 Mock Draft: Vikings Go Defense In First Round

Dec 7, 2009 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: BleacherReport

This will become a weekly tradition until the 2010 NFL draft actually occurs. I did this same thing last year before the draft.

I tend to agree somewhat with you Kaeppe. I think Favre should come back for one more and we should draft our QB of the future this year. Whether it's McCoy or not - don't know?

I like the article, I agree with many of the positions that he chose to draft for. I do disagree with some of the timing. Example I feel a QB should come as quickly as possible.

HEY Magz, watchin' any of the Olympics? I am glad Williams is returning, don't need to really address that position right away now, that line should dominate the run and get after the QB again real well next season. Favre needs to tell them what is up soon, should be interestin' to see who we take first round, probably depends on who is the best player talentwise available at that time at his position, I hate speculating on picks because you really do not know what is going on behind the scenes and what deals are in the making, hope they re-sign Chet soon, peace.

true I guess it all comes down to drafting for need vs best player.

my guess is this, "Ziggy and Chilly" have both tasted blood now and they are gonna want more. They know that this team is capable of making it to the Super Bowl with its present line up. Which leads me to believe that they will draft for depth - Best Player Available (BPA).

If Favre retires, then we have an immediate need. The Vikings will give up draft picks to get franchise QB.

This is a very heavy year for Defensive Linemen, so getting a DT in the late rounds is probably what is going to happen. Pat won't be around forever! Also a late round or undrafted TE could be in the works.

Either way I'm pumped about this offseason. I'm ready for the draft and free agency to start!

I read an interestin' article that mentioned, among other things, that the Vikes should sign a kickoff specialist, blow up our secondary and start over, this includes cutting Williams and drafting a safety in the first round; tinker with the O-line in order to find more ways to get AP in the open field; and just give Favre as much time as he needs, even if it means till pre-season again, I hope it don't take that long! I like the kickoff specialist idea though, we gave up way too many yards against N.O. on kickoffs. I still think Mckinnie, Loadholt and Hutch need to stay, way to big and talented even if some have been underachieving.

Kickoff specialist I can see. We could improve some on that aspect.

Blow up the secondary? Well in a sense its already happened with injuries and time. I think an action like that is a little drastic. Draft a CB and LB and develope them this year to start in the near future.

Tweeking the offense to get AP more yardage is always a good idea, but working on his "fumbles" would be much better idea!

As far as McKinnie, Loadholt and Hutch goes, they will be back. I don't think the Vikings can replace them this year with the free agency setup. Besides, McKinnie is the only one really questionable and some of that is coaching errors! Not all, just some.

I'm thinking that the people we will be losing to free agency is Cook (RT) and possibly Jackson (QB).
Cook, isn't that good. Jackson is on the edge. If we draft a QB and Favre comes back, look for Jackson to go. If Favre retires, look for Jackson to start.
