Don't you think maybe Robison at 259 is a little too light for running downs? Griffen is 15 lbs heavier, might be something to watch. Pats using Edwards as OLB in a 3-4? Not happening. Too heavy for that much running.

Robison is a backup for a reason. I predict after this year we unload and rebuild.

every time he was put in at DE the tackle couldnt handle him at all. given a chance he will shine more than edwards who took plays off and non existence in the pass rush

you want someone to create havoc and robison gives you that on every down. all he has to do is keep the running back to the inside

Fighting someone who out-weighs you by 40 lbs is tough. All that pushing and shoving will wear him down. I would use someone (draft pick ballard, 6-4, 283 lbs) else on 1st down, where the expectancy is for the run. And he would not be in there on 4th and 1. Stand him up, a foot or so off the line (hybrid 3/4) so the O/G has to reach for him. Take advantage of his strengths and do not let opposing offenses take advantage of his short-comings. Coaching, rotation and schemes.

one thing to about ballard, he is one smoke (mary jane) away from being suspended, why do you think he went so late in the draft

Agreed. Viking Update said the 4th round is where teams will say the risk is worth the reward. Time will tell. I didn't even know who he was but I've read good things about his ability.

"Negatives: Lacks sheer mass, needs to improve upper-body strength and is not stout at the point. Inconsistent and has underachiever traits. Too often disappears. Does not have a defensive demeanor or show any nasty in his play. Takes plays off and does not breathe fire. Instincts are lacking. Late to feel pressure. Underdeveloped pass rusher. Plays short-armed and needs to refine hand use - does not rip off blocks. Inconsistent pad level. Gives ground against double-teams. Can protect his legs better. Ordinary production despite playing on a talented defensive line."

"Gives ground against double-teams" Yeah, me too. LOL Didn't propose him as pass rusher, 1st, maybe 2nd, down. Just thinking about how he might be used to save some wear/tear on Robison. He still must pass muster...there are others on this team who covet that job, and they're already there, so it he that has to take their job. Not an easy task.

With Edwards we needed to upgrade at DE Robison is a downgrade.

Age and talent compare our DE other North DE. Speilman let us get old.

What are you smoking/drinking? Edwards has only been in the league 5 years, Allen 7...don't tell Jim Marshall they are old. Who are you comparing them to? If we want to keep Edwards, all we have to do is pony up some pictures of dead presidents. Our DE's are as good as any in the division.
