I'd sure like to have Tice as our OL coach. He put together great groups when he was here.

Add my name and hosannas for Mike Tice. I believe the McCombs ownership treated him shabbily! I also wish he were still with the Vikings despite his immature SuperBowl ticket misstep.

Mike, we miss you (given our current alternative, how could we not?). I think he did everything he could given what he had to work with. I trade Childo for Ticey in a heartbeat.

I always liked Tice's personality, and he's very good at getting the most out of his OL. He took the complete mess left by Dennis Green of overpaid prima donnas and outright flunkies and at least brought them back to respectability. I'm glad this article pointed out his role in landing the heart of our current defense.

That said, Tice was too nice to the players for their own good. His teams rarely played well on the road against inferior teams they should have beaten easily.

This was best illustrated in 2003, when the Vikings started 6-0, and it looked like Tice was building a powerhouse team. But after a narrow win against Denver (the Moss lateral to Moe Williams game) the team finished 3-7 and missed the playoffs, losing to lousy teams like San Diego, Oakland, Arizona and the Giants, all of whom finished that year with 4-12 records. That's when I knew Tice was not ready to be a head coach.

He was never able to climb out of mediocrity. An impressive win against a good team was often followed by a lackluster loss to an inferior team.

Tice is a fine OL coach, but I wouldn't want him back here as head coach. I just hope the DL he helped build in Minnesota outperforms the OL he's got in Chicago on Sunday.

Favorite memories of Tice; Stealing Winfield from the Jest---------- Dressing up in his old uniform and coming out of the tunnel was awesome!-------Roasting Red hooray for Red, hooray atlast, hooray for Red the horses @$$(too true),-------- Playoff win in GB, drafting EJ and Kevin,------ His downfall came when he brought Fred Smoot in as a high dollar FA and Smooty pulled the ol Love Boat scandal. Smoot played like garbage too.. The drafting of Mr Magoo------> Troy butterfingers Williamson 7th overall lol didn't help either...

I always liked Tice, I think he did a great job while here with the Vikings. I would make the argument that he did a whole lot more with less talent than Chilly EVER did. Chilly's teams (and organization) have been well funded and stacked with talent unlike when Tice was in charge.

I get visions of Les as HC and Mike as OC. Tice does know offense. I liked his style, honesty and energy. I remember his passion when upset with Daunte, he practically picked him up by the shirt and yelled into his face. Results: Culpepper got the message, loud and clear. Childress is a disconnected lump.

It always seemed to me that the Vikings players liked Tice. That may not count for everything you want in a head coach, but Childress doesn't appear to have the players' loyalty. Save it all for the offseason; beat Chicago.

Mike Tice has the intangible qualities to lead and inspire that Childress does not. Wilf wanted a corporate type manager and that is what he got. One can only wonder what would have happened with the vikings had Tice been kept on instead of Childress.

Tice running out to the practice field in pads saying We're Ready, We're Ready! before the packer game was something I won't forget.

Oh yes, Wilf does owe Tice, and the fans an apology. The way he ousted a perfectly decent coach was shameful. Pure ego required that he put his own stamp on the team. Wilf is getting what he deserves.
