Mohamed Massaquoi fits Chicago Bears' biggest draft need

There are 66 comments on the Chicago Tribune story from Apr 23, 2009, titled Mohamed Massaquoi fits Chicago Bears' biggest draft need. In it, Chicago Tribune reports that:

The last Muhammad to catch passes for the Bears , the enigmatic Muhsin, labeled Chicago as the place wide receivers "go to die." But if the Bears draft a Mohamed with the 49th pick of the second round of Saturday's NFL draft -- Georgia wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi -- a star could be born.

Good scouting report. never heard of this guy. Why isn't mentioned with the top WRs if he's this good? I think I'll have to look him up. With this pick, size is a bigger need than speed. Any quality WR that is 6'2" or taller should be considered, no matter what they ran in the 40. If they have good hands and can run good routes, they should be on the hotlist. But that's just my opinion.
6 letters. NOT BCS.

Jennings and Tony Scheffler, both from WMU, Scheff one of Cutlers fav targets in Denver (1 handed TD grab at Soldier Field, in traffic).
Delmas, oh, he's from WMU too. But not BCS.

Generally, but not always true... See Eddie Royal, Dwayne Bowe etc... Even Greg Jennings in GB had 45 catches as a rookie. I know the list is small, but it's Jerry's job to find one of these guys... Or at least a guy who can contribute a couple catches a game.
Frankly I'm worried what the coaches really feel about Bennett and Rideau. They couldn't beat out Davis, Booker & Lloyd for playing time last year. That's not encouraging and I don't care if they were brilliant in the preseason. There has to be something we're not seeing to not get PT in front of that motley group.
As for Urlacher for Boldin - The Cards want picks. They need to improve their running game. They don't want a 31 year-old LB with a bad back.
Greg Jennings records were shattered by Jamarko Simmons. Ask Louis Delmas what he thinks of JS!
All good.
Get Bouldin and draft Simmons. Hester isnt a receiver, yet.
Simmons is a young Marty Booker, but tougher.

At this point the Bears could draft a rainbow trout in the second round and it would be an improvement for their WR corps. The name on the jersey makes zero difference. But if D.H. has a man-crush on Massaquoi, then go get him. Sports writers know everything about draft prospects.
Too funny.

I think Simmons is worth looking at... If everyone truly has a late round grade on him - He could be a steal in the 6th or 7th round. As bad as this WR group is I think they ought to be looking at drafting at least two guys.

Are trout or salmon better leapers? We need someone to catch the fades and jump balls. What's Marcus Robinson up to?

I think if the Cardinals accept a #2 for Boldin there will be a bounty out on Rod Graves in Phoenix. But if Graves is stupid enough to trade him for that, grab him. He brings immediate toughness to the team. As for Urlacker, I don't think the Cards need or want him. As other psters have said, the real need is on defense- safety or pass rush. No WR is liable to help this year so draft some in the later rounds. Besides, doesn't angelo expect the receiving corps to improve just because of Cutler? I guess he is going to coach them on catching the ball and running routes as well as throw it to them.

A big receiver would be nice but no need to stretch. get the best player at "one" of the need positions.

BTW, whoever put together the Bear's picks on the Trib Draft Page should be fired. No mention of 5th Round pick #154 and also mistates that the 6th round pick is compensatory when in fact it is both 7th round picks (the Bear's 7th rounder was traded I believe). Sloppy.
