There are 39 comments on the Chicago Tribune story from Sep 14, 2009, titled Up next for Chicago Bears: Pittsburgh Steelers. In it, Chicago Tribune reports that:

QUICK LOOK: It's rarely a good time to play the defending Super Bowl champions, but the Bears might have caught a break by drawing the Steelers in Week 2. It appears they will catch the Steelers without safety Troy Polamalu , their best player.

Fact of the matter is, if the Bears come with a good gameplan...they can beat us. Throw short to intermediate routes to the sidelines and you'll get first downs. That'll force our safeties to the outside and make our linebackers feel the heat of pressure. The same goes for Chicago tho. If they can't stop Woodley, Harrison, Timmons, and Farrior, they're as good as dead.
Lebeau has something cooked up, I have a feeling. He'll use Farrior more in this game than in any other. He'll drop Woodley and Harrison back in mid coverage more often, then he'll bring the inside blitz with Timmons and Farrior.
I also see us using a more wide-out featured offense. Roeth going to shotgun more often. More play action and no-huddle to confuse the defense without Urlacher being there to manage the offense. Confusion is key. We have this game.
the interesting thing is we face another 4-3 D and traditionally haven't done to well against them. I hope the o line is ready. they seem pretty confident that they fixed the problems they had last week.

Good gameplan eh?

there is nothing "confusing" about Pitts offense...other then how long is ben gonna scramble before he throws the ball. Ben just needs to try and scorch the bears crappy secondary, but I "guaruntee" big been will be running around all night.

Pitts has the edge with there defense no mystery there. Bears fans can hope for an upset though.

Cutler is a quality QB. The fact of the matter is, the Steelers play poorly against 4-3 defenses...which Chicago is. If we can hold the 4 linemen and prevent them from getting pressure, we'll win this game by a landslide. I just don't think that'll happen. I think it'll be another hard fought battle...with either team winning by a field goal or two.

Hero: Roethlisberger (280 yds, 2 TDs)

Goat: Woodley, Harrison, Farrior (80 yds rushing, 50 yds passing from Forte)

Outcome: Steelers 17 - Bears 13

spot on. the only mystery about the steelers offense is when Ben starts to scramble and plays sandlot football. that's also when he makes most of his big plays. bottom line if cutler throws 3 or 4 ints the bears lose the game.

If the Steelers sit back and try to win by attrition, they just might get beat. If Ben comes out of the gates a blazing, which has led to a win I believe everytime they've gone after it early, things should hold to form.

Its apparent that Arians is not going to get the running game a priority. If this is the case, I hope they use no-huddle the entire game. Throw Mewelde in there for the first half, build up a considerable lead, then throw Parker and Mendy in there to eat up the clock.

Arians even said there are more than 50 plays now in the playbook that are known no-huddle plays. If that's the case, and we're turning into a Colt-type offense, then lets friggin do it and stop f-ing around. Let Ben take the reigns early and not look back. Hell, that's the only way we score points anyway...might as well keep the defense on their toes the entire game and give our defense more breaks.

Yeah...good game plan. Where as you try to contain Roethlisberger in the pocket, as opposed to sacking him. The Titans had 4 sacks last week on Big Ben, yet he still made the big plays when they matter. YOUR game plan should be to keep Roeth in the pocket while applying pressure from the corners/OLBs and let your safeties and ILB play zone. Roeth is at his weakest as a pocket passer, his biggest strength is getting to open receivers when a play breaks down after the pocket collapses and he scrambles.

So yes, sir...a game plan is what you need. If you come in like the Titans did, you'll lose...while a close game...but still lose. "L"

Good game, Chicago. Jeff Reed better put up some killer numbers the rest of the year if he wants a new contract...because he lost this game for us.

you can't lay it all on reed. why put the game in his hands anyway. arians calls a pass to the end zone on 3rd and 2...the bears were looking pass the whole way. go figure it didn't work. as an OC in cleveland he consistently lost games in the 4th with his horrible and predictable play calling. the pass to run ratio was 35 to 19...we let another team hang in there because we couldn't pound away at them in the 4th quarter and kill the clock. this time the D couldn't bail out the O. i don't see any difference from last years play calling. and mendenhall only getting 3 carries to parkers 14 is just crazy.

hats off to cutler he played real well when the chips were down.
