Sounds like fun doesnt it!
i have to disagree with the desperate line and agree with it at the same time....
Agree, its clear Minn has no timing between BF and his WR at this point, and they are missing Rice and have no deep threat at this time ( before Moss) so Minn is desperate to replace Rice for the time being ect.
NOW

---Words have meanings. Good read on "desperate." A lot of my best work came when I was desperate.
__________

Disagree, when you can sign Randy Moss, you have to do it if your Minn.He and Rice ( if healthy and back to true form) will be a bitch to cover and then you throw in Shank the TE and AP in the backfield, unless Minn turns it over a ton and plays sloppy,or the opponents control the clock on their (minn )tough defense it will be tough to m atch up and beat the Vikes.

---Moss isn't as good as he once was. I thought Mn had a fair chance of making the SB before Moss
---and I don't think his acquisition changes that much.

__________

The only question is where will Minn be at the time they get into sync and everyone is on the same page and BF can take advantage of his offensive weapons.Meaning Minn cant be to far back and have to much ground to cover...

Bingo. This was the question before you got Moss and it's still is.

__________

ONE THING though......and im not bashing Minnesota here, but, If Moss was still that great receiver, why would NE nad a very smart man like Bill Bellechick trade him after a few games? IMO it has to be something internal within the NE family and more to it then his fight with the QB coach.
NE takes the team concept to a higher level than any team I can think of - past or present. It goes beyond the "play my role" model into new territory. I won't expand on this idea in this reply, but Belichek teams remind me of the old Celtics. An individualist like Moss doesn't fit. Every coach has his "guys". While Moss definitely doesn't belong in NE that doesn't mean he won't fit Mn like a glove. He hasn't been playing that well lately but I'm GUESSING the change of scenery will reinvigorate him. I don't know if you remember the "just win baby" Raider teams from the 70s, but Moss would have fit them perfectly.

__________

I read your stuff Eric even when it's not Pats related. Once in awhile I respond just to say "hello".

The Vikes problem starts with #4 and you better hope and pray that one unfortunate play doesn't elevate Toby Gerhart into your featured back. Because that's the NFL.
It's a good move for the Vikes, but it's a move borne of desperation and you better hope to win some tough 20-17 games against the Jets/Pats/Cowboys/Pack this next stretch because your D is going to have to carry you if playoffs, much less the Super Bowl, is in your future.
DESPERATION IS THIS POST-SCRRRRRRRD Walt? GB is hurtin. pun intended-rough game-#4 will be fine-miss him huh?

Good Morning! Is there any truth to the story Moss and Brady had a fight after the game or halftime? we heard the fight with the qb coach, but,if he did in fact fight with Brady the teams face and id imagine captain, that would certainly get someone run out of town, especially a Bill Bellichick run team.Im glad you stop by and read the posts and im glad you drop in and say hi.Good luck to you and yours! Good luck to the Pats!

Sorry about the game; you KNOW I was rooting for the Vikings. I don't care if the "incident" with Brady is true or not. Randy was gone before the season began. He decided to shoot himself out of town after the Bengal's game when he went on his egotistical rant.(You can't fire me! I quit!) The problem is he may have shot himself in the foot - different team/same tenuous contract. I really do like Moss but he has a fragile ego and in Patriotland you check your ego at the door.
__________

Moss will definitely help Favre but after tonight's game you wonder if it will be enough. Its definitely not too late but tonight was a heartbreaker.

I was psyched too. There's something special about Monday night football. Off the top of my head, I can't thing of a sports figure in ANY sport that drives me as crazy as Favre does. He's like a tragic figure from the opera. I was really pissed after the game..

Re: Brady/Moss Feud. Found a great article. The story smelled fishy to me in the first place and seemed just plain silly: Excerpts from the following article in the Boston/ESPN website make sense.
__________

.... One time, when Brady took the offense out to eat, the quarterback asked Moss what he was ordering. Moss said, "I dunno, Tommy, I'm thinking the shrimp fra diavolo." Brady was doubly incensed, because he was called "Tommy" and because he was going to order the same dish. Begrudgingly, Brady ordered the veal pram.
__________

......Following the Patriots' Week 1 victory this year, Moss spoke out against the Patriots, saying he wasn't "appreciated" and that it would likely be his final season in New England. Watching on a TV from the trainer's room, Brady wasn't upset at Moss' comments. He was instead peeved that Moss had the audacity to wear a San Francisco Giants hat crooked. Brady grew up in San Mateo, Calif., and believes a Giants cap deserves more respect than that.
__________

The mutual distaste came to a head last week when, as we all know thanks to CBS' Charley Casserly, the two players were in a heated exchange in a situation that can only be described as BeardGate/You Look Like a Little GirlGate. Because Brady didn't approve of Moss' beard and because Moss likewise thought Brady's long hair made him look like a little girl, the team was forced to trade its best receiver.
__________

...... Casserly tried to go to the source. The former NFL GM-turned reporter must have made some calls to sources within the Patriots organization...
At some point in those calls, someone told Casserly that Brady told Moss that his beard was unacceptable, and also that Moss told Brady that he should cut his hair because he looks like a little girl.
At that point, Casserly probably should have hung up the phone and given up. Obviously, he wasn't getting the truth.
Instead, Casserly went on live television to report (with a straight face, mind you) on BeardGate/You Look Like a Little GirlGate.
__________

"Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins?" Belichick said last year, "His percentage is like a meteorologist. He has no relationship to this team.
Given these harsh words from Belichek there probably aren't too many people on New England's payroll who are willing to talk to the guy
__________

.
It doesn't help Casserly's case that every report that's followed has said his is false. CSNNE's Tom E. Curran asked a source "well-placed enough to know without question whether or not it happened." That source said that it didn't happen. Sports Illustrated's Peter King asked two "highly placed sources," one of which told him plainly, "Someone is lying to CBS." doesn't take one of the NFL's most famous reporters to know that.

Great analogy-when you start the game in which you had two weeks to prepare for with 3 straight penalties it isn't a good omen.

And why waste a TO deciding on the 2 pt conversion? I swear the guy has a phobia when it comes to using his TO's correctly. Of course you go for the two, you were gonna have to get one sooner or later, do it sooner-no brainer.

Good to hear from you..... I'm still pissed.

Hate to disagree with you on the 2 pointer. The commentator (Jaws) said never go for the "2" unless you absolutely must at the end of the game.... Have to agree with him. Had they gone for the PA it would have been a one possession game near the end.

I wonder what TMD thinks. You're right Erie; he knows his stuff. I certainly don't ENJOY being wrong but, then again, I don't mind if it means I can learn something.

Like I said though RAMBLER, VIKES NEEDED a two either on that TD or the next, isn't it a horse apiece, at least? Argueable nonetheless. Your point is a valid one however.

Acquiring Moss certainly did make Harvin more of a threat with him being inserted back in the slot where he is most comfortable.

I had a feeling the Jets were gonna win that one though, I was thinkin' 26-24 but I would never have posted that. Don't think it is beyond the realm of impossibility for Vikes to finish this month 3-1; sorry, I know that means beating the Pats, other than the Jets that is our toughest game left this month, IMO. GB is so banged up and in now way can you take them lightly but I think the Vikes stand a good chance against them at this point, maybe I am looking through rose colored glasses but I still have faith in this team, time is running out on them though.

One more point about this game and Moss and then I want to get amnesia. How about Cromartie stayin' stride for stride with Moss while single covering him, I thought he did a terrific job, Moss did well to get his catches.

I'll address your follow-up posting here.

-- Yeah, Cromartie played well, but Moss burnt him for 6.... and It wasn't due to a perfect throw.
-- Moss got position behind Cromartie, maintained it, and timed the ball perfectly. Favre repeatedly
