No its not that playing bad has caught up with LSU. The problem is poor recruiting has caught up with LSU. Les Myles needs to get out and actively find his own recruits just like Nick does and stop relying on his coaches' eyes. Michael Crabtree was a 2-star recruit and he is perhaps the best out there in his category. Les has got to recruit kids with a true heart for LSU they will fight harder.

I see it a little difrently. I've said for about 3 years now that D.J. McCarthy needs to be fired. LSU's wide receivers are better than average on talent, but un-disciplined. TOO many droped balls and too many poor routes run. They are and can be better than what they have been. And the fact that they have not gotten better over the years is a direct reflection of thier position coach!

Also, the Co-defensive Coordinator's need to go. Put them back at thier respective position coaching jobs and bring in a defensive coordinator with experience who will tighten up the defense as a whole. Just to name one coordinator who is available... John Chavis!!! Damn Good coach!

Just think about LSU's monster defense's... Bo Pelini and Will Muschamp in recent history. We need a coach with the drive and enthusiasm those coaches had.

I believe if those two areas are addressed LSU will be right back in it next year.

As for the QB issue. 1 word to describe this year - "YOUTH"

That being said I can only wonder how the year would have turned out if Jefferson had more snaps under his belt earlier in the season. Who Knows? But I do know we have talent in that position, that is only going to require education and experience...

> I disagree LSU fan! Poor coaching ... And I mean really P-O-O-R coaching has caught up to LSU. It all starts with the head coach. Leslie the Hat has let his game preparations and his intensity level drop. He's speculating too much ... especially about the starting QB position.
LSU has more talent than they know what to do with. Problem is the coaches aren't using the talent in a productive manner. LSU can line up in any formation and I can tell you exactly what play they are going to run.
The offensive coaching staff has got to quit broadcasting their plays. I say, line up in the "I" formation, and run everything off of it. And play-action from the "I" formation to me works the best overall in CFB.
And, on defense what in the world is going on? What ever happened to LSU's bread and butter the blitz with man to man coverage? That namby-pamby defensive scheme this year couldn't stop a junior high team.
As for the quarterback situation, the coaches have really blown that, big time . To me, Andrew Hatch is a much better play maker than Lee. Problem is, the coaches wouldn't let him throw the ball enough. They put Hatch in a one-dimentional situation ... everyone knew it was a 90% chance he would run the football.
Having watched Lee, Hatch, and Jefferson at QB, I would put both Jefferson and Hatch head and shoulders above Lee. Lee has a great arm (at times)... but, all he can do is throw the football. I mean not pass the football, just throw the football ... up for grabs mostly. Also, Lee is not mobile enough to do anything else but throw or handoff. He has really poor decision making skills in my opinion. This is where the bad coaching comes into play. Hatch has a better than average arm, but Miles and Croton wouldn't let him pass on critical downs, while they let Lee chunk it up for grabs.
Jefferson is a great looking prospect at QB. He has a rifle arm, and can run like Perrilloux. But, once again the coaches tied the QB's hands when the game was on the line. Playing too conservative with the run, and not passing enough.
If I can sit and watch what LSU is doing wrong and can visualize what would work, and what needs to be corrected, and the coaching staff can't ... LSU is in real trouble. Big time! NO JOKE!!!

Yeah Art... Lee made many... I mean MANY bad decisions this year. Staring down his receivers is the main one. But like I mentioned, too many dropped passed. You can only blame the QB so much. Pass a little high, a little behind? OK... QB needs some work, but if the WR makes the adjustment and the ball hits thier hands... That 100% WR fault. I can't count the number of time the WR's dropped good passed this year.

I think we are all a little frustrated with the play this year because we all know they could have done better. I honestly believe with a few minor changes we could have gone 11-1. But we didn't!

We do have a young group of guys coming in and a lot of talent there, so there is hope!

It's looking like we may play Iowa in the Outback bowl!!! REDEMPTION!!!!
