What was the point of writing this before you knew the result of last night's game? It looks really stupid now.

I guess you're sorry the Giants bounced back last night, Wally. And both teams had the ball in overtime, so don't say they won becaue of the coin flip. The Giants won because they went back to Giants Football: Run, run , run. The O-Line made the difference last night. Go pick on the same old Jets, Wally.

what is this bozo talking about? How about watching the rest of the game before you comment. other than the d being a little porous yesterday, the offense seemed to be back on track

Why write a column like this minutes before the game ended?

How about they aren't limping in to the playoffs since they just proved they are the number 1 team in the NFC and got their swagger back. The plax ordeal took more of a toll than I thought it would, but they got out of it without any damage and looked pretty good last night.
#1 scoring offense the last few games held to 7 points for almost 3 quarters of the game. I'd say thats pretty good coaching to change the game plan after a terrible start

Mr. Matthew's is right, complacency is the real killer. They need to get their swagger back, everyone has been gunning for them all year long and it only intensifies in the playoffs. The Giant's secondary has to learn two things (1) how to hold onto a sure interception and (2) staying with receivers on 3rd down. The D-Line and LBs need to get the pass rush working again, Pierce hasn't been the same since the Plaxico incident. There's no trophy for second place.

You should have watched the rest of the game. Jack@$$. Man this guy is a hack. They lost games to the Eagles and Cowboys, two divisional teams that they split with almost every year. So it should not have been a shock it happened again this season. The only thing that got to the Giants is setting an NFL record for playing 10 staight games against teams with records over .500.

This Matthews is a first class idiot. This guy must brown nose his boss to no end to still have a job. To actually let an article run that says how the Giants are limping into the playoffs(after just coming back from a 21-10 hole to run all over the Panthers for the #1 seed) shows what a dope he is.

I think this guy gets off on writing unintelligent articles that are going to enrage fans so that hopefully he can let Dolan feel better about raising the price of newsday. He epitomizes the lack of knowledge writers have of the games they cover. I guess thats what happens when you spend your high school football games getting wedgies and swirlies from bullies as opposed to actually palying the sport.

Hmm, I remember back in the beginning of this NFL season that the columnist for Newsday seemed right on the money with their effort when it comes to reporting the true story of the local teams. The trouble with Newsday is that complacency in their sports writers has become the biggest obstacle. It shows up now and again, as with this latest effort, when stories are just phoned in to match a press deadline and the reporter gives a crystal ball approach to so called journalism. Don’t know when Wallace Matthews jumped up from obscurity to the point where his opinion was needed and desired by the sports writing staff of this new paper. However, this particular story looks like his boss may have to make an attitude adjustment in order for them to improve. Touché’

You are a fat a$$ wad of BS. I bet complacency rules your life which is why you're an "expert" on it. I'd love for you to go out every week and beat teams that are hunting for you while all of the distractions in the world try and get the best of you. You are a poor excuse for a writer and I hope this article lands your fat a$$ in the unemployment line. Go die you loser!

I won't disagree that complacency can kill a team, but the Giants showed true meddle last night. Thats the kind of thing that makes a champion. To go 11 points down get back to 1 point down then go down 8 and come back and win. I don't know which game this dummy was watchin but it sure as hell wasn't the one I watched.
