"Schottenheimer is the father of Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who would be expected to remain with the team if his father were hired." ARE YOU ALL CRAZY? Schottenheimer is one of the problems too. And Marty? OOOOH MORE TRASH..
Tannenbaum NEEDS TO GO TOO!! Woody Hire me and my Youth Football Staff and we can and WILL Give you a better chance to get to the playoffs...PLEASE NO MORE CRAP!

I don't see how Tannenbaum escapes here. He either has an eye for talent similar to his predecessor, or an inability to recognize who in the organization has a real gift for spotting high-level NFL players (if there is anyone), since he doesn't.
The hugely expensive overhaul, which I thought was reactive and unimpressive in August, fizzled when the chips were on the table in December. If Jenkins and Pace had played like they were paid, Brett woulda been a cautionary footnote to a playoff season. If Gholston had made any kinda contribution, ditto. If the kid from Oregon had talent and coaches to develop it, Brett need never have been on the radar. Why does he get to stay, and make more critically bad decisions?

cowher will never come to this perrenial losing franchise. he's too smart to accept this losing team. the J.E.T.S. can have the best players in the universe and they would still screw it up.cursed until they leave jersey.

Why would Cowher want to coach in NY. The fans are dim-wits. Any team that would want Favre hasn't been watching NFL Football for the last 10 years. They cut Chad Pennington, a very effective QB that knew the system.
Jet fans and Tannebaum got caught up in Brett-mania. Jet fans annointed Mangini, Man-Genius just 2 years ago.
The problem is the Jets fans. They don't know what they want and they don't know a winner when they see one and they have no patience.
So, they are back where they always find themselves, doormats and also-rans

just a little angry that your team missed the playoffs w/an 11-5 record and choked/lost the SB last year to a NY team? and your QB situation is a mess and your coach is a cheat (a very effective cheat)?

typical boston/ma fan- can't enjoy whatever success your teams are having because you are so infatuated and jealous of the yanks and the giants

instead of trying to beat down long suffering jets fans, go kick someone else when they're down- like your manny-less won't win in another 80+ years red sox

If the Jets are serious about winning they need to get rid of Favre. This drama queen destroyed Green Bay and wrecked the Jets. why would Cowher get involved with this mess?

Why not consider Spagnuolo? He wouldn't have to move anywhere and he brings a very smart game.

Yes, that guy!

But don't worry, a man with that kind of resume (although a few like you have a problem with, but thousands of others do not) will never go to a perpetual sad-sack organization like the JETS.

By the way, who do you suggest?

Haha Boomer has been completely WRONG with everything he said this year. Before the season, he said Favre couldn't learn the playbook in time and it would be a slow start. Then when they were on a roll and beat the Titans on the road he said the Jets wouldn't lose another game. Even this morning, on the radio, when his cohost bet him $100 he said they wouldn't fire Mangini. I'd sure like Cowher but Boomer saying it might happen means ZERO chance.

I think the Jets have put some good teams on the field in the last years(almost beat the steelers in the playoffs not long ago), but this is NY and well, fans expect to win everything....and all the time. I'm not sure if Cowher is the answer, probably good as many other choices. Also, I think Brett was probably playing hurt the last 5 games, that's why his stats suffered. You can blame the Jets for that, going with a aging QB, but chad had problems himself making it through the year without injury.
