I am tired of seeing receivers not catching passes.....Mike Hass is a legitimate receiver. Let him play. Worried about stretching the field....how many long TDs do the Bears have this year...defensive backs are up tight on all the receivers now....at least Hass will find an opening and catch the ball.....

Current Bears team a disgrace to the history of the franchise. In years past - when they had poor teams - at least the other team knew they were going to get hit. Aaron Rodgers looked as fresh and clean at the end of the game as when it started.

Aaron said he was hardly touched.

Anyone remember Dave Wilcox of the 49er's? Players said they got hit harder by Wilcox in practice than by any opponent.

I mention the 49er's because Singletary should have been the guy being groomed to replace the inept Lovie Smith.

Week to week the Bears defense is weak...an embarassment. They should first fire Babich, then Lovie right behind him. Finally, the new coaches should take out film of the 85 team and see how defense should be played. Lovie can take his Tampa 2 and 2 step right out of town. This certainly closes off any discussion of whether the 2006 team was better or worse than 85. I don't think the 85 Bears allowed 37 points all season (except for Miami) let alone in one game.

all you suggested won't matter. Smith, through his coaching "expertise" has taken away the Bears very identity.

How can the Bear's staff field a team that doesn't know how to defend against a pass? Most of the time our players are behind the opponent never next to them or in front of them. How can you defend against a pass like that? Other teams don't play like that I can't understand why we can't do it also. By now every team knows how to beat the Bears, just pass and pass and pass. Or to paraphrase Palin, pass baby pass.

Camp??

Where Lovie cancels every other practice due to heat?

So the Bears aren't ready for the first 4-6 games?

When the Bears players are always winded in the 4th quarter all season long?

Camp?

It's all about the Bling, and cars, and Trucks, and girls, etc....

well said. too bad i feel it falls on deaf ears. i doubt that anyone from the bears' organization reads this. and even if they did, they would be too proud to actually listen. but, if for some miracle, they did listen and followed some of this advice, man, what a turn-around it would be. bear down. let's see some change.

No training camp mentality is necessary - according to Lovie, the players are good, the schemes are good, the coaching is good but they just don't execute. They'll go from an awful team to a Super Bowl team as soon as the players start executing. Just trust him. Also, to be on the safe side, we could also look into giving Urlacher some more money.

if it's camp and every position is up for grabs shouldn't that include QB?how can an injured Orton with such little mobilty be an upgade over his experiened backup? you praised Orton for gutting it out against the packers and I belive you also were the first who said Orton should be locked up for a long term contract.I'd love to see how you'd flip flop and worm your way out when Orton starts stinking it up like all the other current overpaid players. by the way weren't you the one who at the end of last season said Bears should go very aggresiely after derek anderson of Browns?

Let's just face the truth,
The only winning coaches the Bears have had in my lifetime have been Halas and Ditka.
McCaskey, sell the team!

Beleive me ,nobody reads these columns.Go back to training camp, what a freaking joke,it`s suppose to start there isn`t it?Let`s face it DABEARS mystique has been gone as long as DACOACH has.TO tell you the truth,it left when they carried buddy ryan off the field in the 86 superbowl,i was there and i knew he was gone.YOU know who blame for this mess all these years, ditka himself.WHEN he lost control and embarassed them damn MCCASKEY`S publically ,they`ve made sure not to let fierey coach ever do that that to them again!Just look at the miltoast they made us swallow,WANNIE,JAURON and now LOVIE.DON`T tell me a fiery coach w`ont make a difference on this sideline and until there`s a SINGLETARY or COWER there, dabears are DEAD!!!!!!

Smith needs to go. Terrible defense. I've never seen a coach so bad with clock. No clue.

Singletary.

Great article David but I doubt whether Live and Jerry will do anything. I would move Idonije back to DE and get Adams, Toeaina, and Baldwin active. Bench either Anderson or Ogunleye (or both). I would release Brandon Lloyd, elevate Brandon Rideau from the practice squad. Do something to shake the team up. Could you image what Lou Piniella would do with this team?

The solution is simple

FIRE LOVIE

HIRE SINGLETARY OR RIVERA

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DRAFT A QUATERBACK

Just once in my lifetime I would love to see a real quarterback in a Bear uniform...Not a retread.. a wanna be... a runner a real to Goodness superstar quarterback
