I used the Bowie, Jordan example because it is widely recognized across the sport spectra as one, if not the, worst decision in history. I will admit that the Eagles might be in the running for the top ten with the Vick decision based on performance and results. The funny and sad part of this is that Vick, like Iverson, will end up broke and owing money to many people, it is just a life style to many gifted athletes but dumb in the ways of the real world. The bottom line of all Professional sports is winning and championships and at this rather late date in Mikey's career he has produced neither at a consistent level.
I don't disagree for the most part. I think Vick has some interests outside of football that may keep him earning money, but more importantly, you've proven the point I've been trying to make. Despite petitions, boycotts, puny demonstrations at the stadium, forum posts, facebook hate pages, letters to the Eagles and their sponsors... etc... The only one who could ever stop Vick from getting what he wants, IS VICK. The entire Vick Bashing Circus (that continues today) has been 100% useless. Absolutely nothing has been gained from any of the things I mentioned. Why would anyone in their right mind continue to fight for this losing effort when all the fighting so far has done no good at all ?

So, allow me to understand what you have just stated, you think that people should abandon their beliefs and right to protest because the fight seems lost? Good thing for the blacks in this country that Martin Luther King did not feel that way in the 1960s.
I didn't think this possible, but you've managed to top the stupidity of your "passing on Jordan" vs "Paying Vick a 2nd 100 million" comparison. We're not talking about anything near the magnitude of civil rights. We're talking about one guy playing a damn game. If the haters think those two things should be compared equally, then all I can say is, good god what's wrong with you people ? Find something to do that will really matter. What you're doing with Vick hasn't mattered at all. The proof is everywhere.

BUT, you are saying that if you have strong feelings and the cause seems to be lost, you should abandon them? I was not saying that The Martin King, Mikey Vick were equally important. What I was saying was that in the early 1960s America a man came along and practiced a message of "Peaceful Demonstrations. Many locations used tactics that made this seem like a long term loosing factor by using fire hoses, dogs and thug like arrest tactics so all did seem lost. In the end Martin King made us all look at out humanity and the people who protest Mikey Vick also question the humanity of the people who continue to give Mikey a job.
Do I think he should be banned from Football, NO. I think that he should be allowed to play and nature will provide the answer and end to the story. Mikey is one hit away from major physical problems and I feel that he should have the right to tempt fate all he wishes. Now, as for his performance on the field, both past and present, he was a human highlight film, however never a consistent winner.
The cause seems to be lost ? SEEMS to be ??? Do you honestly see the haters, after 4 years of failures, suddenly changing the course of Vick's life ? Again, Vick is the only one who can stop Vick and he isn't important enough to waste frustration or stress on. You wouldn't put a new engine in a rusty old car no matter how much you care about it. People with brains wouldn't. Sometimes you just have to say uncle when things no longer makes sense. And many Vick haters have. If you haven't noticed, Vick has fallen way down on the list of most hated athletes. Even QB Jay Cutler is higher on that list now. Intelligent people see what a waste of time it is.
