barnett needs to start playing better...he had one good season and now he thinks he's top shit..maybe he should worry more about football than his god damn bar before asking for a new contract...until then...sit down and shut up..

The need to keep Barnett happy. I like the way he is handling the situation... they should extend his contract. He's an asset.

That headline is very bias against Barnett, in that they make it seem he wants a huge deal higest paid ect and wont take anything less ect edt when hes looking for 2nd tier money like Idaho said, and hes worth 4-5 mil per year. Hes 25 has agood 5 years in him before his play starts to falll a bit ( barring serious injury of course).Hes not raising hell, beiing a cancer threatening to hold out ect, just put up the money Ted unless theres a linebacker in the draft that your sure will be alot better and we will get him!! otherwise pay the man , hes been loyal,,show other teams that if you play well, have good charactor, the Green Bay Packer org. will take care of you. Its not only good for Barnett, but its good for future FA ( even though ted wont try to sign any of them) that we are a place where players want to play. Contracts are a 2 way street. we have to be willing to pay , but, that player have to be happy to be in GreenBay and want to play here.

I think giving Barnett his money is the right move here. I think the packers have been interested in a few free agents this offseason that didnt even make it to Green Bay for visits before being signed. Giving Barnett his due will show other players that we are willing to take care of our guys and shell out some money to those who deserve it. Then maybe next year some guys will want to visit us as a first or second choice instead of fourth or fifth.

Barnett is a keeper. You want to lock him in now. You don't want to find yourself in a position, like the Chicago Bears are in right now, where a good player (Briggs) is disgruntled financially, hit with the franchise tag, angry with being second fiddle to Urlacher, and wants to sit out... etc. I could see that kind of situation occuring in GB, especially as Hawk gets better and more popular... I don't want to see Barnett get the shaft.

The Pack should try to keep Barnett but not sign him until the end of the seson. He is steady but not great, and easier to replace than you might suspect.

Losing Barnett would be foolish. This man is "special". He has vision for the game, and a strong work ethic. A leader by example @ age 25, he has filled some gaps in the defense and as players around him mature, he will be freed up to do greater things. My grandpa and I met him for 30min @ fanfest and were given the opportunity to see that he is also an articulate, classy, gentleman (not just a monster of the midway).
He is worth 10x whatever he gets.

Laurie you did such a nice job talking about meeting Barnett, etc. in your initial comments, then you totally blew when you went over the edge here. The man has a right to post his beliefs.

And I guess we all have the right to get a little ticked when someone spouts off hate about the man's social life and incorrectly refers to his on-field actions. He's had a good year EVERY year he's been on the team. But, I should not have lowered myself to that guy's level.
