It's meaningless in the 3-4 scheme. You need 5-6 good backers. He'll get plenty of time.

We'll need him to be ready for the stretch run, I don't care if he has a limited role early, this guy needs to be healthy in Nov. and Dec. and hopefully Jan.

If you look at how the Patriots used to play it (they are 4-3 this year), there's a lot of situational LB substituting between run and pass downs. We'll see the same. Hawk will probably play less pass downs, for instance, and Chillar more. Plus, as Jeremy says, the guy just started contact a couple weeks ago. It would be great to have him at the end of the year.

Agreed We need Barnett down the stretch!Let him play sparingly in the first half and get him into football shape for the stretch run.

If Barnett continues to be the only solid LB on the Packer defense, the Packers will have bigger problems than his availability at the end of the season.

The entire team is susceptible to injuries because of a lack of depth. However, barring injuries, if the defense struggles it will absolutely and definitely be because of the LB unit. The outside backers are either young or inexperienced at the position and/or scheme. On the inside only Barnett has proven himself to be a solid (but unspectacular) every down player. The other three have really failed to distinguish themselves. The inside backers are also inexperienced in the scheme and Barnett has hardly played since his surgery. The area to be concerned about is the LB unit.

The second area of concern is the offensive line due to the lack of experience. However, it has been a long time since the Packers entered a season with an offensive line looking this good.
