All is calm, for now, in land of Packers

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

Brett Favre acknowledged his anger over the team's unwillingness to pull off a trade for wide receiver Randy Moss, but denied Monday he ever really wanted the Green Bay Packers to trade him.

You just have to love it when a guy like Favre gets riled up and they have to send in damage control. After reading this little gem about Bret, my opinion of him sank a tad. Not because he was upset and flew off the handle, but for WHY he got upset, that is, because the Packers wouldn't work a trade for, perhaps, the moodiest, most glum, malcontented, maladjusted football player around. Moss hasn't changed one iota. From the day he was drafted out of Marshall and was taken under wing by Chris Carter, Moss has blatantly failed to assimilate into the NFL. Oh, to be sure, he is one of the most dangerous WRs ever, but he simply just doesn't get it. Everywhere he goes he's okay for a bit, but then the true Randy Moss comes out.

It's for that reason that I've lost some respect for Favre. He's still one of the toughest and best QBs ever. A real throwback to the blue collar field genereals of other eras. But wanting to bring a distraction to a team that needs to retain its stability? There are plenty of other WRs out there that could help Favre & the Pack. I'm glad Green Bay's brain trust saw the folly of signing Moss.

Sorry, Bret, but you were dead to want Moss on your team.

I watched the interview at the golf thing and its no where as bad as these people make it outto be. But i also think any type of help would have made him happy the moss is just the last line he had and they didnt get him either i think if we would have upgraded some how or at least not thrown in abrand new running game he would have swallowed it better. But i think the lack of any type of attempt to better the off. just added up and the moss issue sent it flying. He would have been happy with a joe horn, eric moulds and some others but no one and thats why i think he popped off. Elway popped off dan marino popped off you didnt see this anti them did uyou guys. Some say favre is on a pedastool i dont see that i see him between the sights of critics and fans alike.

Flew off the handle? Huh? Where? When? He stated his opinion, dude... He didn't fly off the handle.. I have a shaky opinion of Brett myself.. But let's not over state YOUR opinion/interpretation here... He did not fly off the handle..

And have you taken a look at your opinion of Moss? Are you by chance, a dictionary fanatic? Hmm... Must be on the "M's" today are we?

Pff... Fly off the handle.... Jesus... If he flew off the handle then I guess my post seems like I am one step away from Prozac, straight jacket, and the looney bin ay?

Its not just about the moss thing... its everything in general... they seem to not care much about the offense... and how would u feel if u were the qb of that team and u suffer through game in and game out. They havent done anything to fix the redzone problem... it seemed like bubba was playing for the other team all year.

If you think all is calm, check this out from PFT..........
FAVRE, THOMPSON DON'T LIKE EACH OTHER

The root of the recent turmoil in Green Bay between the front office and quarterback Brett Favre boils down to one reality.

Favre doesn't like G.M. Ted Thompson, and Thompson doesn't like Favre. Neither man will ever say it, but we're told that it's true.

A year ago, we had heard from reliable sources that Favre's wishy-washy routine about his return in 2006 was intended in part to twist Thompson's tail.

This time around, it appears that there is a major trust issue between Favre and Thompson, especially in light of the now-deleted posts on Favre's web site from his friend/pilot "DavidPHX" regarding the apparent arrangement that, if Favre announced his plans to return before the Super Bowl, Thompson would try to upgrade the talent. With no apparent upgrade, Favre feels that Thompson didn't keep his end of the bargain.

Although Favre's fury has been calmed for now, it remains to be seen whether he continues to play nice. A source with knowledge of the situation says that the team will pursue receiver Keyshawn Johnson in an effort to placate Favre.

But, as we see it, Keyshawn doesn't add enough to the passing game to make up for the lack of an established tailback; the presence of Randy Moss might have.

The sore point in all of this continues to be the failure of the team to land Moss. As we hear it, part of Favre's frustration is that the team waited too long to make a move, in the hopes that the price tag for the trade would drop. The problem is that, by the time the price dropped, the Patriots were on the radar screen.

So by dilly-dallying, Thompson missed out on a chance to make Favre feel better about the quality of the roster heading into what could be his final NFL season. And that only has made Favre feel worse about Thompson.

The players, we're told, generally support Favre on this one. Not because it was right for him to speak out (arguably, it wasn't), but because he's the leader of the team and his teammates love him.

And they don't want to have to play with the alternative to Favre: Aaron Rodgers.

TT has all this money to spend and has he done anything with it to help the passing game? Not really no wonder Brett's po'd. I dont think he did it in a proffesional manner he kind of threw a tantrum but at the time I guess that's what he felt he needed to do. Brett is the face of the Packers and TT needs to give him someone to throw to deep. I dont think GB needed Moss he's a cancer and though he may have behaved himself for a time, it would have been just a matter of time before he gave u the old fingar and told ya where to put it.

Oakland coaching staff were saying Moss lost a step ect,,,,,and espn were saying on one of those stories should NE becarefull i wish I actually saw the store but it wa one of those espn sportcenter headline tyope things. There are questions about if NE should have signed Moss,so we didnt miss much. There are cut down days and time for TT to get a vet receiver to help out in the passing game so let not panic here.

Wow what happened? You sound a little bitter here.
I also think you need to look up the work arrogant in the dictionary. Brett is one of the furthest from it.
Do you think a Hall of Fame QB that sees his team dismantled around him, and yet has years left on his contract is wrong to ask "Hey a little help here!?"
Of course he will retire before his contract is up so Ted has all the time in the world to rebuild. Why put a QB that is still good (notice I did Not say great) in a position to win?
Ted is trying to drive Brett into retirement. He would have been thrilled if Brett did not come back last year not to mention this year. He wants his mark on the Packers and Brett is not part of it.
The whole thing bites!
