Ya know, esteemed writer, I have noticed that you, 40 for 50, and the idiot in phx, make many references to sheep and gays, is this your way of coming out of the closet?? Oh and by the way, I have several teams that I follow, yours is just one to bash! And it is amusing....

Another no-nothing post, from a no-nothing fan of...nothing. Grow up, John Boy. Notice how posters just naturally associate you & sheep? That's the reason you notice it, dip$h!t. Most of the rest of us follow more than one team too. The difference is, we talk football. YOU, on the other hand, just sound like what you are: An insignificant posting troll.

Looking at it from a fan of the NFL as a whole, I think the NFL fans were cheated by the vikings loss. I know some non-viking fans could care less, but I would have liked to see how moss/carter/DC/smith performed in the superbowl. They were an awesome offense to watch and at that time, it was the best ever. Also, I wish Carter would have had the opportunity to showcase his abilities in the superbowl. So, I feel cheated in that regard. I don't think the better team won that day. No offense to the Falcons'fans, but I think the Vikes gave the game away.

As a fan of all sports in MN, I watch and root for all of our teams. Watching that game was unbelievably heartbreaking. That was when i really started realizing that MN sports, owners and players, seem to be out to get us. "Seem" being the key word in that sentance. All the Vikes super seasons ending with the same results. It just doesn't end with the vikings, of course, as all MN fans can attest to, the north stars leaving was a just what we all wanted, like a shot in the groin that is. Ya, we got the Wild, no offence, but they are about as good as any other MN teams....one and done. Twins, well, granted they won a couple world series and are entertaining to watch, but they need to open their purse strings if they actually want to compete for more than a one game playoff at the end of the season. Wolves? One word...Mcfail. Marbury for Allen...Roy for Foy...Garnet for some third string high school team in Boston somewhere...Rider, Laettner, Grant, Ebi. If they ever get back to any sort of playoffs, it will be with each other on a game of NBALive'09 playing for a different team. I appoligize to everyone that reads this, but i just had to vent about all MN teams after reading this article. Now i'm off to watch, and believe it or not, root for whichever team thats going to let me down next.

Great article! As a 42 year old life-long Viking fan, it dredged up some painful memories, but it is great to here about that day in retrospect from some of the participants. It's too bad Denny didn't commet by saying that "The Falcons were who we thought they were!"
I'll have my hopes up again next fall!

This, believe it or not, was the game that made me a Vikings fan. Strange to be sure, but it really is so. I was a teenager at the time, and I probably would have said I was a Packers fan because that's what most the family that was into football was. It did seem like it was the Vikes year, after years of trying and four unsuccessful bouts, this was going to be the year they punched through and won the Super Bowl. So when they lost, I made what may or may not be the most foolish decision of my life and took it upon myself to cheer them to a Super Bowl. I've got no plans to switch allegiances provided they remain in Minnesota, and despite the frustrations over the years I don't regret being a Vikings fan. Hope springs eternal, and 2009 looks more promising to me than any season for quite some time. I only hope Chilly and Wilf realize that Jackson is not getting us to the Super Bowl anytime soon, and it would be nice, if a bit less crucial, if a new offensive coordinator is in the offing. Our defense was great this past season, should be at least as good next season; I really feel like a good quarterback would put our offense where it needs to be to keep up their end of the deal. Please, we're on the cusp, let's not blow it by putting the offense in the hands of someone who's proven he's not ready for primetime.

Remind the D*Bag that the Broncos are proud owners of the most humiliating loss in SB history with that forgetable effort against the 'Skins who beat the Disco Darin led Vikes to get there..I believe it was an axx whipping for the ages Tim Smith (who??) sets the record for rushing and Williams throws for 300+ in the first half..55-10 or something like that..
