Who will lead the defense on the field?

I think the 2012 Vikings defense has a lot more to work with at this point than 2011.

I do think the person to lead the defense should play middle LB He has the best view of the other teams offense & can make adjustments faster. I say - What about trying Chad Greenway as a middle LB in the Preseason & see how he works out Greenway knows his LB spot well enough so if he doesnt work out in the middle he can move back to his side without skiping a beat. I think its worth a try.

Well wouldn’t it skip a beat for the player that was supposed to play MLB and got yanked and then thrown back in? Shouldn’t you have him in that spot during camp and then preseason so he can get ready to play with the other starters?

Greenway at the start of his career was going to play MLB but was moved to outside He now has experienceHe as a LB. Greenway is now considered one of the Best outside LB in the game today. I would Think if you put two & two together you would know if he was playing as a MLB in a Preseason game he would have had to practice in Camp You think? I didnt think everything needed to be spelled out for you GBpmies but I guess it did.

Allen From his DE spot he cant see all of the field like a MLB He cant make the needed changes fast enough if the offense changes there play or shifts a player from one spot to another.

Ray Lewis is the Ravens MLB he lines up all over the field for a reason sometime it looks like he is playing the outside but he is the Playcaller & is there MLB Depending on the offensive scheme he see's is where he lines up accordingly

here is a little look at Chad Greenway last season.>>Former Iowa linebacker Chad Greenway had his most productive season as a pro this past year for the Minnesota Vikings.

The former first-round pick out of Mount Vernon, South Dakota, still had to wait to earn his first-ever Pro Bowl selection.

Greenway finished the season with a career-high 154 tackles this season and added two sacks. He had 149 tackles in 2010 and has been quickly staking his claim as one of the best linebackers in the league.

The one problem I have with the Pro Bowl voting is that there are too many players selected who are career Pro Bowlers but didn't necessarily have Pro Bowl seasons in 2011.

Greenway replaced Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs. And Briggs was selected over Greenway originally despite only 105 tackles and one pick. Briggs is a great player, but Greenway had the better season in 2011 and should not have needed an injury withdrawal to be selected.

lol( Vikes and Browns gonna be in comp. for that 1st overall pick in 2013.) What about the Jaguars they was 5-11 & had the worst offense in the NFL. or the Colts 2-14 or The Rams also 2-14 or Tampa Bay they was 4-12 last year.I dont see any more improvements in any of them teams Where as the Vikings has improved the offensive line have a few key receivers added Simpson Wright Childs & on defense they added some young talent when they drafted Smith the second best safety in the Draft & CB Josh Robinson I smight add Both will be starters before the year is over None of them teams listed above drafted near as many players the will be in there starting line up.Them teams didnt make the improvements that the Vikings has. But I am favor of a 34 defense But the Vikings did have 50 sacks playing in the 43 so I can see why they want to keep it.

I do not see Allen as a nose tackle. And I really don't see the perssonnel to go to a 3-4. Further, Singletary was a sympathy hire and is not the guy to coach LBs.

Browns? Yeah, they are gonna ball-control-offense their way to a very high pick. The Vikes will be more fun but a tough division limits them to 5 wins.

Vikes went from 6-10 to 3-13.

If they win 5 games, it'll be fine. But they gotta stick with Ponder and Webb. This carousel of retreads and guesses has to end.
