I understand the sentiment. But look at it this way, for the last seven years woods on was #21 in Gbay and porter has been #24 his whole career. I don't blame porter for not giving up his number. If woodson had been 24 his whole career then yes, woodson is a likely hall of famer. He should give it up then. But that is not the case.

give the number back! it's just, a RAIDER THANG!
porter may have always owned the number. but he never owned the RAIDER 24. woodson did. and just to be cool, porter will give it up. PLUS, it will make porter look good and cool. bad part about it is, porter will feel like he is second woodson.

This is false, Porter was not #24 his whole career. Tracy Porter was #22

If that's the case, then there is no reason he shouldn't switch it up. I heard on ESPN that 24 was always porters number.
