Millen is taking all of blame here.... Lions chairman William Clay Ford, has placed Matt's head on a platter... Since Barry Sanders called it quits, the lions have not signed many big named players like other teams have.... Spend the money Ford and you will begin to be competitive!
Matt should become an announcer again, he is very knowledgeable about the game and is a lot better than the explayers on these "sports talk shows today" Michael Irving was terrible-- couldnt even make a sentence... "they do what they do". Barber, Johnson's all need to be fired!

#4 top local story. Another Loser and Detroit isn't even in the Lehigh Valley.

Just because your a top-shelf athlete during your career it doesn't translate into being able to coach or make player decisions. There are probably a ton of fantasy owners that could have done a better job than Millen even with limited funds.

There are three more spots left perhaps they can find room for something like Liberty winning the 4A State title.

The problem wasn't the Lions' payroll. Old Man Ford spent plenty of money during Millen's time as GM.

Millen's drafting was atrocious. You cannot make mistakes on first round picks. Harrington, Williams, Rogers, all first round busts. Williams and Rogers are out of football and Harrington finished the season as The Saints' third string QB.

Millen cannot judge talent and did not have the self knowledge to admit he was in over his head. He did, however, keep taking Ford's money.

To those of you who think the Lions stink because of Ford's refusal to spend money, look at the contract Millen had. He was the HIGHEST paid GM in the NFL when he signed his extension. How is that possible?

I'll tell you why....William Clay Ford is a typical guy born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. He is utterly and completely incompentent. This is supported, of course, by him paying the likes of Matt Millen to run his football team into the ground for 7 years.

Remember, Millen took over a 9-7 team. The very next year they were 2-14.

Millen is the worst GM in professional sports history, however, he only acheived this status because the incompetent WCF kept him around so long. Any other franchise that was dumb enought to hire Millen would have canned him after three seasons.
