How anyone in their right mind think the Gophers would go to the Rose Bowl this season must have sipping some specially prepared Kool Aid, and yet the PP writer's first paragraph in the story was about losing a chance for the Rose Bowl. Give me a break.
This is a young team. They are going to a bowl, but had no real chance at Pasadena.

they cant make a 20 yd FG,,,and wildcats Dont have the starting QB & Rb,,and they still lose at home...they are NOt a ranked team,,and Wont be going to any big name bowls.....again...sorry Brewster let them come in flat on homecoming day...? unexceptable !
This is not meant to defend Brewster, but didn't the last two victories prior to this game were on the road against teams that were having their own Homecoming game? Maybe Homecoming games are little overblown today.

Nice catch Decker! Turns out your afraid to take a hit in the face of potentially winning a game. If you were injured that bad, get off the field. Otherwise quit limping around like a girl.

As bad as we are, the Gophs are worse. Luckily, it's only temporary with us.

This loss does hurt due to all of the chances minnesota had to close this game. But this team is still 7-2 and lets get out to support this team against michigan to bring back the jug.

Without mentioning names/monikers, if you are so good at coaching, calling plays, and extreme hindsight, why aren't aren't you sport critics on the field coaching! After awhile expounding and complaining negatively, you start believing your venomous vindictive comments about sports.
I apologize if I sound overly personal, self righteous and pontifical, which I am not trying to be, but in looking at the preponderance of opinions at this board concerning the Gophers, much of the negativity borders on the ludicrous.
I love all type of sports and its competitions. Sometimes, I pop my Irish temper cork and scream bloody murder with the rest of you when the occasion warrants. However, life goes on, win or lose, there is always another time and game to watch, cheer, or scream. My expectations are tempered by the mottoes; 'Take each day one at a time', and 'Take each competition, a game at a time'. My expectations are also tempered by my participating in sports competition where I experienced; "The thrill of victory!", and/or "The agony of defeat!". Like life--winning is great and feels good, but defeats, if you gave your all, are lessons learned.
In a short personal tenure as a varsity ranked coached, my teams were successful in gaining national top ten collegiate rankings. Even after my departure from the scene, the teams continued to excel and stay in national prominence for several years. Lord, knows I had to take a lot of criticism but in the end I prevail against schools that were much better and more experienced at the sport. Keeping a positive outlook on life and sports help us grow as individuals, no matter what the outcomes.
Dont need to be a pee wee coach to comment on good and bad football! A 2nd string QB runs over your #1 defense? Hello!

second guessing is pointless here. We should have won this game, but we'll get over it.

Tybalt, you are a person of few choice words. I agree with and respect your post but want to add; 'sie la vie!'

I wasn't a pee wee coach; but, I empathize, respect, and support; win-or-lose; young athletes who try to mature and improve at their chosen sport. I can't keep being overly critical of a football program trying to build a tradition of success, nor, am I a 'fair weather' milquetoast fan/supporter. Even the great teams of Hayes, Holtz, Paterno, and Schembechler had their off seasons. Patience is a virtue and so is being patient with young Gophers and their rookie collegiate coach.

Now we will find out what kind of a coach and team we really have. How well they they bounce back? They should win out, but we will see.

How will they bounce back? That's what I meant.

The Gophers hadn't done much all day on offense. What were they thinking by throwing a dangerous pass into triple coverage from their own 20 yard line with 20 seconds left? What was there to gain by doing this? The odds we were going to get into field goal range were small. Just take a knee and play for overtime, there's no sin in that.

DUMB,DUMB,DUMB. Why are they passing with seconds left, and 70 yds to go!!! What's the point? Take a knee, and take your chances in OT!!!

I mentioned last week that their tackling against Purdue was very weak. So different than the smash mouth football that made the Gophers famous through the years.

Let's hope they concentrate on tackling drills all this week and that it shows against Michigan.

As far as Brewster is concerned - the guy has brought you from 1-11 to 7-2. What on earth do you think you have a right to?
