It's not the night game. It's the fact that years of loyalty and alumni status have no bearing anymore. I bought all tickets offered for the past 19 years and that fact is meaningless now. I now have no better chances than one just graduating to get tickets -- that's wrong, and downright disrespectful. I did not win lottery tickets this year, and doubt that I may even apply next year. What's the point? I know of at least 4 others where the same thing has happenned. Disappointing...

I don't have issue with the lottery knowing that there are more worthy alums than seats in the stadium. I also believe the current students and staff should get the bulk of tickets, since it is "their team".(We all had ours.) What I object to is the waste of tickets on the media, scouts, recruit entourages, etc. Recruit prospects should be on the field with the team, if they are serious about letters of intent. The rest of the commercialization should watch on TV like the rest of us. Those sky-boxes should be sold on a per game basis only, starting at $1 million each. What no takers? A weekly auction would take care of that.
Too often the University sells out the students and alumni for media contracts. That's why we get Marshall games on a Thursday. The media dictates the schedule because they don't respect OSU football or opponents. We should get first choice, ALWAYS. Move the other school's games so we can play on Saturday. Things should change when the semester year starts and the added games of Nebraska begin. Everyone should expect to see 5 division Big Ten games and 3 cross division Big Ten games per season. I hope the out-of-conference opponents are BCS schools. Now, how is the Athletic Dept going to distribute the Big Ten Championship game tickets?
We are really beginning to see that the tailing is wagging the dog. The Athl Department schedules a team like Marshall or Bowling Green because even after paying the visitor their half million, the univ makes more money than scheduling a home and home with a name BCS college. Other name BCS colleges likely face the same scenario.

And despite knowing what a major inconvenience a Thursday night game will be for the fans and community, OSU does it anyway, because they need/want the extra TV money they will be paid. TV money that would not be there if they played Marshall on a Saturday, because no network would go for the game.

Alumni sales are also because game winners must take the game assigned to them, and likely many alumni did not want to take the chance on getting Marshall.

We were lucky enough to win tickets the past three years but the games were Akron, Troy, and Navy. Not exactly marquee games even though TP set the TD pass record in a game for a freshman against Troy and the ridiculous excitement in the Navy game last year.
Bottom line-I can usually get tickets for a game like that without paying the Alumni Association dues on top of everything else. Sorry Archie but we don't need the grief.

The girls in Columbus are fat.
They only look that way when you look through a steamed-up car window, curb-crawling Lane Ave.
