A crew of brush clearance contractors likely caused exactly what they were hired to prevent when a brush fire erupted in the Hahamongna Watershed Tuesday and torched about a half-acre of forest, fire officials said.

Bottom line is, late July is too late to be doing brush clearance. However, if you do it too early, the cut live fuels will regrow and be right back were they were in a month or so. Especially in a year like this, when we had a late winter/spring. It should have been done in June.
