Congratulations to one of my all-time favorite players. I remember when you made boilermaker football exciting even though we would only win 3 games/year. Best of luck Mike!!!

He was going to be drafted by the Steelers, but on draft day the Steelers pulled one over on the ST. Louis Rams and got Jerome Bettis. Thank goodness they didn't draft Alstott.

I can remember watching him push his jeep UP the hill in the parking lot behind the stadium and then coasting back to do it again......after practice.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Fullback position, which is now completely dead. Well done, Mike.

I too remember him pushing his jeep at Purdue.

Don't forget he was the first Boilermaker to score a touchdown in the SuperBowl.

I hope you are joking. He was a great college player and a good pro player, but certainly not HOF material.

Pro Bowls shouldn't be the measuring stick -- the NFL Pro Bowl is a joke. Nobody wants to play in it so half the selected team fakes injury and opens the door for a lower level player who is thrilled for a all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii.

He is on IR and will miss the season but has not decided on the future. As for HOF, best to compare his stats for decade to Larry Csonka of 70's and he stacks up well with Alstott's TD totals.

When at Purdue, I heard rumors of Alstot pushing a jeep up Slaytor hill. The only time I got to see him was one night at TripleX. He took up 2 stools worth of space.
Hope he finds something interesting to do with his next 60years.

If there was a Hall of Fame for fumbles he would be in it.

Retire and sign with the Colts as a free agent. Alstott in the backfield blocking and getting the first on 3 and inches. I say a one year contract is fair enough. What do you guys think? Sound off!

If there was a Hall of Fame for losers, "overrated" (see above) would be in the first with Jim Colletto. Does anyone else remember the home game when Purdue had then #1 or 2 Penn Sate on the ropes. Purdue, 4th and goal at the 1, cold, snow flurries. Genius Jim Colletto took out Alstot (who had been killing PSU all day) and put in Hunter to throw an errant pass into the wind. Congrats to Alstot, class guy and great player.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Gemini

If you're currently keeping something secret it will really start to prey on your mind today and you'll worry about blurting it out at the wrong moment. It's one of those days in which you're absent-minded and completely wrapped up in your own thoughts. As a result, it will be hard to concentrate on anything else and this won't go down well in certain quarters.
