interesting article. ramses barden a 6'-6" (wr) 229lbs. from cal poly was interviewed at senior bowl and nfl combine by RAIDERS. but maybe expected to be picked in the second rnd. likes of a brandon marshall or vincent jackson. another prospect in RAIDERS mind is (wr) derrick williams out of penn st. read on at bottom of page they have highlights of these two guys.

okay guys, let's say the RAIDERS do draft a (wr). one of these two guys in the second rnd. what position will be first at #7? D or O ? i'd have to go with D.(ilb) or a (s). i prefered O early in the year. if RAIDERS already interviewed these two guys ramses barden, and derrick williams. that likely means RAIDERS are going (wr) at #2. but could they go (wr) crabtree or maclin at #7 and ramses barden at #2? two (wr's)? nahh"(LOL) that would be crazy! would it?

I do not think Barden will be taken in the 1st or 2nd round by anyone. The Raiders can wait until Round 3, if needed.

Once the draft pick trading starts, everyones scenario will go out the window anyway. Raiders should pick O/L. Why waste a pick on a WR if J-Mac cant throw to him.

picking a (wr ) is not a waste of a pick! russell can throw! and his stats don't look that good either thanks to the dropped passes from lelie curry and walker. this year russell should blossom to the (qb) he is supposed to be. being that he has the right (wr). at the end of the year things started to look good for russell thanks to schilens and higgins. besides, garcia is there should russell falter for whatever reason. so, no a (wr) is not a waste of a pick. i'm not against oakland picking a (ol) in the first pick as a matter of fact that was my first choice when draft talks started. i wanted a smith or j smith. but oakland already worked on the (ol)and right now i want a (wr) or a (ilb) or visa versa. whatever we pick first at #7 i won't be disappointed. there is always #2 and good players should still be available.

what's up gentlemen? i know it's been a quiet moment and even i have been busy but all i can say is the draft is coming up and the day before the draft we should make a guess to what we will pick at #7. just to see who gets it right. no big deal, just feels good to say "I KNEW IT!(lol) so, gentlemen, the day before, whoever gets here first write up a forum for the guess of draft on the first pick. we'll follow.the day before, choose (one)(OL)(WR)(DL)(OTHER). "player" hey, we'll call you one badass dude the rest of the year!(LOL)

My gut feeling tells me it will be Darius Heywood-Bey with the first pick.

Wether that pick happens #7 overall is another question

To me drafting a guy too soon is not neccessarily a bad thing...What I mean is, if the Raiders scouts see something in this player that can't be measured on a stat....ie.a motor, or the "it" factor...then I don't have a problem picking a guy up before he is expected to go...its all what you feel the player is worth. SOme later round picks have done very well in the NFL. So why not pick someone up early if they have "it".

I'm having quite a hard time with this one because DT is a major need and the only ones that seem like they will contibute to stopping the run are the Boston College bros BJ Raji and Ron Brace. Most mocks have us taking either Raji or WR Michael Crabtree at #7 overall, but Darius Heyward-Bey had the best 40 time at the combine, so I'd be trying to make a deal with Philadelphia to trade down (#7 overall for #21 and #28 overall) that away we can get a quality DT and WR in round 1 without hurting our current team. Anyways, heres my pick'
If we stay #7 overall WR Michael Crabtree
If we trade down with Philly for both of their #1s, Darius Heyward-Bey

I agree with TR (somewhat) that the Raiders will stay at #7 and choose Crabtree. For the sake of the "contest" and submitting a unique choice, Crabtree is gone by #7 and the Raiders select OT-A. Smith.

This draft mentality has not helped us for the past 5 seasons. If they draft Crabtree just because he is sitting there and ignor the true needs that need to be addressed, then this will be another disapointing season. But hey, atleast when we finish 7-9 or 8-8 and dont make the playoffs again, you can say "I was right whne I said they would draft Crabtree.

Not the kind of acknowledgement I am looking for in 2009. I for one would like to see the playoffs.

Nothing against you Raider Misterio but the O-Line is not fixed with the signing of other teams backups. Time will tell.

If you are saying the Raiders should draft one of the Top 3 OT's before Crabtree that is not an issue. If you are saying that the Raiders should draft Oher (the 4th OT) rather than Crabtree that is an issue. Oher is rough and will not help Russell this year; Crabtree will.

Good call Tex. I'm currently hoping for the Philly trade scenario. Crabtree's surgery, plus lack of a 40 time for Al, not to mention a very "different" off-season thus far, make the trade scenario that much more plausible. Less than two weeks away!

yea, non taken' we're all professionals here!(lol) basically what i was saying is the (OL) has been worked on and i just don't really see RAIDERS getting a (OL) at #7. and one player whether it's crabtree or a smith whoever, is not gonna make us go to the play-offs just ask mcfadden (lol. they need to get it together and by fixing our (OL) a little and picking up a (wr) or a (DT) would probably balance the team a little bit more. "BUT" i could be wrong! i've been wrong before you know?(LOL) but that's why i was saying, the day before, we should write down "one" player in the forum as your guess pick for #7. we're coming down to the wire =|

I agree with you. Crabtree is a very enticing pick and I would love to see him as a Raider. BUT, if there is another player that can fill a need for that defense that lost to 3 rookie QB's or an even better fill for the O-Line, then why not pick that way. I feel that McFadden was an impulse pick with Bush and Fargas on the roster and we need to stray away from that. If it wasnt, why do we now have 7 RB's on the roster?

Seems odd.

Roll the bones and say BJ Raji. I think Crabtree and Orakpo will be gone and Heyward-Bey, BJ Raji or Aaron Maybin will be the choices to chose from. Hoping Raiders go defense, BJ Raji.
