Taylor played running back in 147 NFL games. That doesn't sound fragile to me.

Fred was a big part of the Jags offense for several years, and I was a big fan of his. However, Fred did have a few things that bothered me about him....He would conduct some of his workouts away from the team...He didn't earn the name 'Fragile Fred' for nothing, and missed several key games the Jags needed to get into the playoffs. He did whine about getting less carries when MJD arrived which meant he would get less carries and achieve less $$/incentives. While I like Fred and a big fan I applaud the Jags decision to go with MJD, Greg Jones, and now Chauncey Washington! The running game looks very promising and the Jags are moving in a great direction.

Sheesh. Don't blame it entirely on the small market. Green Bay (though big on tradition) is tiny, but it didn't hurt Favre. Or Starr. Or Golden Boy. New Orleans is very small, but Archie Manning made a big name. Do you think no one knows about Julius Peppers. I don't think playing in Orlando hurt Shaq too much. I love Fred Taylor, but year to year there were 2 or 3 backs better than him. Hence no pro bowls. Who? Terrell Davis early in Fred's career. LaDamian Tomlinson later. Thurmond Thomas ring a bell? Marshall Faulk with Colts and Rams? Curtis Martin? Edgerin? Eddie George?
Fred's body of work is impressive, but he never had the one great year. You need to be able to score from inside the 3 which he doesn't do so well. Bettis, and most others on this list, could.
