How can this trade be considered fair? A franchised QB and a top LB for a 2nd round choice? something funny is going on between these teams. Be honest-any other team and it could be written off but the Pats have broken the rules in the past.

I think this was more to trade Cassel and his $14.6 million salary for cap relief. If Brady comes back healthy (all reports indicate he will), why would any team want that salary counted to theri cap?...

Remember, Cassel played only 1 season as a starter. It's not like he's proven himself over seasons...

Yeah, smells like salary dump to me. Plus they get a high second rounder. I'm not surprised they moved him while he had value. The linebacker I'm not up to date on.

Still just a second round pick for both vrabel and cassel. Doesn't seem equal trade.

This was definitly a move to lower the Pats cap (seriously, who would pay 14 mil for Cassel). Funny how the team that knocked out Brady and gets Cassel real big acquires him. I wonder... JK :)

If I'm an NFL owner, paying over 25% of salaries towards the salary cap for 2 players is not economically feasible...

Vrabel was not an every down LB. He played in a more situational role. Cassel did play well, but when you have Tom Brady, is there a need to keep 2 QB that take up lots of cap room?...

Finally, I don't think the Patriots would have made the trade if their medical people reported that Brady was questionable in any way to play this coming season...

I thought that Vrabel was an every minute defense player. Any way, the Chiefs are getting a good player.

Part of the deal was Matt Cassell's insisence that he could bring along his personal therapist to Kansas City.

I'm disappointed Denver wasn't able to get him and unload Cutler at the same time.

Seems good for both teams. Not a steal for KC, you know Bellicheat will draft a top player at top of 2nd round..

I'm just glad both are out of the AFC East, especially Vrabel. That guy always seemed to be all over the field when they played the Jets.
Glad to see him gone.
