Tarvaris Jackson would, of course, like to have that pass back. That pass that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown.

I am a big Vikings Fan, and this could have been a banner year with a real QB. All the years before we either had a great offence and no drfence at all, or vise versa. But this year we had both, but no QB. Gus did fair, but every time Jackson through the ball, i would hold my breath. Scarry. Get us a QB before all our good and great players jump ship..........

For a team like Vikings who are one QB like Brett Fahr away from being a Super Bowl champ, to give a naive QB like Jackson another eight years to learn leadership? Review all his throws, play calling, using his all-star players and the offence, defence and special teams, was he playing college kids?

Bob,

I forgot to include reasons why Childress should no longer coach the Vikes. First, Jackson's INT was caused by bland running plays called on 1st and 2nd down, then the kid was given a pass play to get the third down over 10 yards (if I remember correctly) while avoiding the blitz - terrible play, it shouldn't have come to this - what happened to the short passing game, the outs, the slants???? Second, at the end of the 1st half the Vikes had the ball with very little time left, they correctly ran the ball on 1st down, forcing Philly to take a time out, but then tried to pass the ball on the 2nd and it was incomplete, Philly didn't need to take a time out, then they ran the ball on the third, Philly took a time out, and the Vikes punted the ball - the Eagles had another chance to score because of terrible clock management. And lastly, in the 4th quarter while the Vikes are trying to come back, they sub to TE's and one WR, let's see, a run you think??? Philly brings in their run defense and stuffs them. It is plays like this that drive me crazy. I refuse to watch another Viking game while Childress is head coach - he has no imagination, can't utilize his talent, and doesn't have the necessary skills to be a head coach. Ziggy made a big mistake by hiring this guy, now it's time to show him the door and get someone in here who knows what they are doing.

Another brillant article from "bob". Easy to put the blame on Tavaris. The philly defense made the Cowboys and Romo look worse, just one week before. Give the defense the Viking faced the due credit. Look also to C Pennington. Comeback player of the year threw 4 ints. Didn't hear a call for his head at the end of the game.
Give him a full season to get things done and this may have ended very differently.

TJack played aweful! He did look every bit as bad as he did earlier this season. I feel TJack's progress was hurt by his being named the starter after his rookie year. He obviously was not ready then. I don't know if he'll ever be, but the starts when he obviously wasn't ready tarnished his reputation so badly that it is hard to stick with him. Chili put himself in a tough spot also as he has hooked his reputation to TJack to such an extent that he is gambling to stick with him.
I'd like to see the Vikes pick up a competent QB to vie for the starter spot w/ Tjack next year. I'd like to see a truly open competition.

"We sure don't make any of those pronouncements after the game. It's the kind of thing we go through the whole week as we pull apart the roster and see where we're at."
don't forget to look at the hc and oc talent ( or should i say lack thereof)...BTW KINK...if you don't know where we're at by now...WE'RE IN THE FREAKIN' TOILET: as usual!
zygi...give the team a chance next season...open the door for him and bevel on their way out...VIKES...VIKES..VIKES!!!

Chili coached a bad game but I do believe he is hamstringed in his play calls by a QB who is limited in the throws he can actually make.
Chili seems to dummy down the playbook for TJack which really shouldn't happen after 3 seasons in the same system. When TJack played poorly early in the season the whole audience knew they would roll out for him because that was the only pass he seemed capable of completing. He seems to have progressed since then, but against this blitzing "D" his weaknesses caught up with him.

I really wish T-Jack wouldn't have gotten back up after he was body slammed to the carpet by that Eagle.

jackson will never be the answer!!! we have not had a qb we knew we could believe in since tommy kramer and have been waiting if you want to be particular since tark, in this league you need a qb period!!!!!! brees was not thought about in free agency and cutler should be our guy!! have you seen him throw! chili is intent on making t jack the man and 3 full years together we have progressed to this qb performance!!! you can not take a running qb and retrain him in the nfl to now be a j montana type. they have all the wrong instincts developed!!! m vick, v young!!they can not relearn to be marino!!! the temptation is very strong to go with these guys because they are athletic gods!! but they rely on the wrong instincts when in trouble and to make matters worse they win a few games a year doing the wrong things but against garbage teams and think it will work. but in the playoffs you dont run for 90 yards because those teams that give those plays up never are in the playoffs!! playoff teams force these qbs to stay in the pocket and outthink the coverages!! and if you dont have those instincts developed, the nfl is not the place to learn on the fly!! think matt ryan in his fist year and this is tjacks 3rd!! how many 1st picks would it take in a straight up trade for ryan now? or brady or manning bros. or cutler? we need a serious commitment to a qb and a coach who knows you cant develop a manning out of a vick on the fly in the nfl , thanks 4 listening to me

Warren Moon (Hall of famer), Randall Cunningham, and even Daunte were all "athletic" QBs, and all are better than Kramer.

Thank you, Bob, for hitting the nail on the head.
The Vikings desperately need to give their Season Ticket Owners reason to renew for 2009. A return of the Childress-Bevell-Jackson offensive brain trust won't cut it.
The Vikings only got 55% of Season Ticket Owners to purchase a playoff game. How on earth are they going to get them to buy TEN games next season--with another year of the "Tarvaris Jackson Experiment?" Atlanta and Baltimore have proven that it doesn't take three years to get an NFL QB up to speed. It's time to move on.

Can't wait to see how all of you Tarvaris / Chilly backers defend this one. Maybe Tarvaris needs more "learning" time. Maybe Chilly will figure out a 2-minute offense at some point. Yeah, right...These two idiots have to go. Was there a worse QB performance this weekend? Maybe Pennington, but I'd still rather have him than TJoke. No question.

Moon was better. Cunningham(when he was with the Vikes) and Dante could not compare to TK.

The Eagle defense was better than the Vikings offense.

On the other side of the ball, the Eagle offense just looked where Napoleon Harris was and threw passes in his area. Easy to convert 3rd downs against a team that has a middle linebacker that averages only one tackle a game. Since EJ went down, the Vikings have been playing a man short.

Okay, so bring me in and I'll run the show. Since my shoulder got tired down the stretch, I'd be willing to have Jackson run a few packages, even some where he's in the backfield with me...should be sweet. And I can help groom him to be a proper starter - c'mon man, anything to show Aaron Rodgers what's up. Like I said, I'm available.

Culpeppper could not compare to Cocaine Kramer? In his years with the Vikes, Dante put up better numbers than Kramer did in his entire career...with small girlish hands, no less.

TJack seems like a really nice person and someone you can root for but I haven't felt he was ready (and may never be) and clearly yesterday's game shows he isn't. Players like Flacco and Ryan have shown more improvement in their rookie seasons that TJack has in 2 years. At the pace TJack is improving he is a better fit for a team like the Lions who are several years away. The Vikings have most of the pieces in place to contend now and simply cannot bring a QB to play who simply is not ready. If TJack is going to stay it must be as the QB of the distant future and he has to be willing to sit behind and established QB.
