birk has not done the pro bowl job the last couple of years, but he is still one of the better centers in the league. seems pretty obvious he wants to stay, i don't see what the problem is...oh yeah, klink is our head coach.

John Lynch, i don't think you should be so harsh on Matt Birk. have you never made a mistake? i know that they get paid ALOT of money to do their job, but so does the dfense that was beating the snot out of our guys all day. i don't think that too many centers in the league can compare to the job Birk has done over the last 11 yrs. i would love to see him finish out his Hall of Fame career in a Vikes uniform. that is pretty unheard of in this day & age. i hope that Childress is not going to make the same mistake with Sullivan as he made with Jackson & believe he is ready to start after only 1 year on the bench.(can u say egomaniac) if Birk leaves, i wish him the best of luck & a BIG THANK YOU for a job well done!(minus 1 little mistake)

The Vikies suprised me and keep brad childress. Through out the year we have been unable to score any points in the 2nd half and it continued into the play off. Since Brad gets to stay he needs to find a different Off Cord and a special teams coach. If he can't see that he should be fired. Bring back Bud Grant or hire Mike S.

If I recall correctly the owners have gone on record as saying there will be no coaching changes. How do you bring back the special teams coach? They set a record for ineptitude by giving up 6 TDs on returns!

I still say that WIlf realizes that he isn't going to get a free stadium so he is positioning the team for a sale.

It is going to be another disapointin year next year with Childress at the helm. Let's hope they sign Birk to a multi year contract to finish his career with the Vikes!

Thank you Mr. nice guy. You did a lot of good things for Vikes and community. You belong to Minnesota. Vikes needs to sign you untill you get retired from Minnesota. I hope Minnesota not LA or any other city. Situation with stadium is very serious I hope Vikes owners see the same way and keep Vikes in Minnesota. You are a very respectfull and awsome guy. Thanks again everything you did for Vikes.

GO VIKES ALWAYS.

There needs to be some changes to the team or we will not improve upon this year's performance. Offense needs to do a better job with play calling. I'm an arm chair remote control holding coach and I can see that without getting paid to put together game plans. With AP entering his prime, now is the time to fully utilize his talents. Get the ball to him in the open field. It really doesn't matter who they keep (or don't) if the coaching doesn't improve so we can fully develop our players. The fact is the team could not sustain a drive in the second half on Sunday when the game was on the line. We will never win close games in the crunch until this can be done in the big games. QB. O-line, coaching they all need to improve against the top teams. Chilly bought another year, make it count!!!

Let us be real Birk! There are a couple of guys behind you that the organization would like to plug into the starting lineup, their youth, and room for growth will determine your outcome. Remember, Birk replaced a Pro Bowl player that was sent to Tampa, whom continued to be a Pro Bowl player in Tampa until he retired, so what goes around, comes around. I know Birk has been great for Minnesota, but there comes a time when change is necessary, and at this time, it may be necessary.

Matty B I'd take whatever money you've invested well and walk away while you can still walk. Enjoy your family and the next phase of your life. You don't have anything to prove. You're a great center. The great ones retire just when they are at the top. That way their legend grows.

No way will they sell. Who's got the money? Sports franchises are a luxury item and no one with that kind of dough is thinking luxury right now.

The key fact in this article is that Bob's initials are "BS". Matty is correct in saying the Vikings are a Super Bowl caliber team. The actual problem is that when you race a number of equal semi rigs toward a one lane mountain tunnel, only one can make it through there and be first. The unknown unknown things will often make the difference in the race. No one can predict in training camp who is going to get hit by a meteor or whether the ball is going to fly out of the arms of a certain running back directly into the arms of a partcular charging defender in a playoff game or whether any of those things will even happen in this decade. They are unknown unknowns. Did any sports writer predict Matt Cassel or the Pats would go 11-5 and not make the playoffs? Of course not. The people who are thinking of buying the Vikings are the ones who can become rich after this unforseen depression is over. Money is not intrinsically worth crap, me buckos, and a gold diet won't make you live longer.

Why in the world would the Vikings get rid of one of the few players in the NFL with class? Let's keep the guys with criminal records, and pay them more. It is disgusting how the Vikings would not extend Birk's contract. If I was him, I would tell the Vikings to go screw themselves with whatever offer they give him. You don't treat good people like that. We need more players like Matt Birk in the NFL. If he leaves the Vikings; I am no longer a Vikings fan. Where's the class ZW? Why don't you grow a pair and get rid of Childress?
