This is a hilarious bit here, for starters we didn't let Matt Birk go, he got an offer from us and took it to Baltimore and got a match. Birk had been here going on 10 years, thats alot of time, change for him was very good and it may rejuvinate his carear. Bottom line Birk left dude.

As far as Favre is concerned I don't expect us to go after him, but if he showed Bright Eyed exitement to compete for the job and he was healthy, I would really consider it. If Brett's mind isn't right the move isn't right.

Finally the Cutler bit, obviously he's a good QB but the price that the Bears paid is not cool, I'm glad we didn't make that trade. We obviously value our draft picks and believe in our abilities to draft. Percy Harvin is likely to be a very good player for us, much like the Patriots the Vikings went to depths with his so called character issues. IMO its nothing more than a guy who had temper problems as a young man, overly competitive is a better word. Percy is a good guy and I highly doubt we will have character issues with him. Maybe the reason we missed on Housh and Percy tested postive was all for the better. We got lucky with Chad Greenway, AP, JA, now we're getting lucky with Harvin. Doesn't it feel good?

As far as Childress is concerned he's a got a good eye for finding talent and character. Does Harvin smoking the kind green make him a bad person? Has he hurt anyone recently or damaged anyones property? Been arrested? Yeah I think overblown and Childress got a steal.

Tom,

Did I note a bit of sarcasm in your article or were you just telling it like it is?

Every football team makes mistakes, every coach and every player. Unfortunately for the football team I have enjoyed being a fan of since I was a kid makes more mistakes than average. Regardless, I as a fan don't believe that you as a sports writer give the Vikings a fair shake.
You think they will go after Favre solely because it doesn't make sense? You, sir, are a hateful idiot. Going after Favre would make -way- more sense than your statement there. Just because you have lost faith doesn't mean that you need to spread your negativity and constantly knock Childress and Wilf. If you hate the team so much - FIND A NEW PROFESSION OR WRITE FOR A DIFFERENT TEAM, because your writing does nothing positive.
I personally believe that the Vikings are headed in the right direction, and rapidly at that. I believe that T. Jack has the capability to lead our team to victory, and if he can't I have faith that Rosenfels can do the job, and I also believe that Booty could grow in to a starting if not a franchise QB in the NFL.

The only thing your defense will get is a refrigerator door slamming shut everytime Raji hits the ground. Good luck GBP, you'll need it.

If we had a decent QB that a majority of the coaches, players and fans had confidence in Brett would not even be a thought. The fact that it is a discussion is more a reflection of the SORRY state of the VIkings QB situation rather than any reflection of the state of Brett farve's current ability. Personally I think he is a year past washed up.

I can't believe some of the koolaid some fans drink
Birk was never offered a deal last year chilly wanted him gone but he was a fan favorite and hes allready on a hot seat and as for faith in tj (how many yrs does he get ) and sage has been around for 8 and how much of an impack has he had? The Problem the Vikings have is a coach who doesnt believe QB is an important position ,just look at the other QBs hes signed . At least Farve might have one more good year but that would save chillys job and that SUCKS

Favre averaged a 95 rating until he got hurt. When's the last time a Viking QB averaged such a rating over half a season or more?

Your sarcasm exceeds your intelligence, I'll give you that (that was literal). Now, it is apparent that no matter what Childress does, you will not approval. Who could blame you, you're a writer and you thrive on controversy, even if it boils down to you creating the controversy yourself. Very charming, but your next article should have a purpose.

Favre would get the vikes 3-4 more wins this coming season than any QB currently on the roster. And as for us "letting Cutler slip through our fingers".....THANK YOU, he would've been the death of the franchis!

If you passed on a younger, stronger Cutler; why would want to sign the older, weaker Farve?

Many of the preceding comments only prove one thing, that most of the Fans on these blogs are actually Packer Backers. No wonder all they blog about is firing the coach and QB.

I think instead of bleeding Purple here, I will instead infiltrate Wisconsin blogs claiming to know all that is NFL and call for McCarthy's head. I will also go on and on about how the Packers suck for going 6-10 and having a QB that will never be Favre. I will do this until all the bloggers understand my genius and follow me on a rampage to Packer HQ until all that is left are the tattered remains of Bart Star's jersey. Then, just when all of the maddened Packer bloggers think it is time to drink beer and eat cheese I will show them the truth, that underneath my suit of green and yellow is actually a purple and gold Favre jersey that until that day had been hiding in my closet for 18 years.

GO VIKES!
