Big win. I hope that as the season progresses, the team can put things together and contend for the division. Who knows, perhaps even advance into the playoffs. There's just a lot of talent in this team. I hope the coaches find a way to utilize their potentials to the maximum. If only everyone plays like Winfield, we can beat anybody. Well done Gus and the Vikings.
I agree, lito. It was a big win. Also, a lucky win. The Saints were running up and down the field on us at will. That should have been a blowout in the Saint's favor. Also, I agree that if everyone plays "smart, physical football" like Winfield, this team will be a Super Bowl contender...Go Vikes!!!

No one on this offensive (with the exception of TJ) likes this coach or his offense. Do all the players a favor and FIRE him now. Bring in Bud Grant and Burns to stablize the year and bring life to the offense just by calling different plays, scrapping the zone blocking and perhaps even designing some play that would play to the players stregnths ie, misdirection, double back set, real play action, flee flicker 4 times a game. If we get pass the bye and we still have Chilli its over until next year. I want Mike Martz. Remember: it could be worse, it could be next week with Chilli.

If there was an article on this site about a hemorhoid epidemic in the Viking locker room, 75% of the posts would be about either firing Childress or that his play calling resulted in excessive offensive player bench time which caused the problem.
Again, Klink is here for the rest of the season like it or not. I don't like him any more than the next poster. Yet, the article was about Ferotte. Why not comment on that for a change? The guy got beat to heck and hung in there, didn't make mistakes, and actually led the team on a come from behind win. The "fire Chilly" points have been made a zillion times, and are probably about as irritating as my repeated posts complaining about the complaining. Lets talk football for a change.
We are talking football. Even Gus takes you to the coach. As politely as possable he has said the coach is stupid. The only thing positive Birk can think to say about his coach that we both have the same goals and that is to win. Mike Martz has his players both present and past saying that they love his offense and they love him. When is the last time you heard that about Chilli. Yes I know players do not have to like their coach, but they should be excited about the offense they are being forced to play.

A win is a win, but I was disappointed that the veteran coudn't take advantage of the Saints' run stop "D" much better than T-Jack has done. Does this failure fall on the Qb or on the coaching staff? If the failure falls on the coaching staff perhaps we are a bit hasty in faulting T-jack in the first place. I'm not saying bring back T-jack, I'm just saying the veteran has to be expected to read defenses and perform like a veteran. More should be expected from him.

"Frerotte said. "I know Adrian is great. But when they got nine guys in the box, it's hard to run." - 9 guys in the box.... let's see, that leaves 2 guys to cover 3 receivers... that's just insane. The opposition isn't playing NFL defense, they're playing, "Let's stop Peterson". The Vikings *need* to capitalize more on this.

He has no authority given to him from the coach to change the play. He like the rest of the offense is tied to Chilli like ball and chain.
